As a sort of thank you I've decided that because I don't always comment as much as I could but I do try folks, that I'm going to include the top 30 commenters

Thanks, I do like to comment a lot, simply being I don't want just another name on my list....I want them to be friends that I actually know. But sometimes, instead of saying something stupid or irrelevant, I'd rather not say anything.
As for the top 30, I don't think I'll make the list!
well, you haven't been around long enough, so I won't hold that against you. I'll try to do something proportionate to time relevancy without making it too complicated. I'll put you in.
this is an interesting approach. I don't know quite how I feel about the whole LJ commenting thing. Sometimes I'm afraid I comment too much, like a stalker. Other times I feel like I don't comment enough. I guess it depends on the particular journal. Some people make me think more with what they write, or they have experiences that strike a chord with me.
As for comments to my own journal, I tend to think in terms of quality over quantity. That is, the people who write quality comments mean more to me than the people who write "me too", even if they may comment less frequently. I was kind of surprised when I used that comment stats generator, the names that showed up as frequent contributors were not necessarily the people I felt closest to.

I think your right though sometimes we connect just much by what read in people's journals as how they respond to ours.
I'm still going to try this out because of the thnak you factor.
Makes me feel good to give a bit back.
