Big Rant about Writing

Sep 05, 2008 00:12

I read something on a friend's journal that triggered a nerve ending of mine, it's a pet peeve that is a guarantee  to send me into a borderline frenzy. I was so annoyed I had to go and cool off by standing on my balcony for a few minutes in the  brisk wind to gear down a little.

There, so now you only get the half-riled version of my discourse ( Read more... )

I'm glad I left out the part about eating the heads of narrowminded people and spitting the contents back down their necks, that would have been most distasteful.

I agree. It would have tasted just horrible. :)

I think the beauty of writing is the intangible being brought to life. Broad strokes on paper instead of a canvas. The grammer and spelling is to make it easier for others to digest and enjoy. Putting others down because they may come up short in the grammer/spelling department is obnoxious.

No doubt Oscar Wilde probably sets their teeth on edge.

I am the world's guiltiest party for being lazy with the clean up of my work but I know if I spent all my time editing, I'd egt about a fifth of it done so I send it to editors. It baffles me as to why some people think this a vulgar practice.

Whatever works, I think.

I actually LIKE many of the grammar nazi's who clean up my stuff, Don't tell!

I love what you said about the meeting of intangible to reality. That is writing in it's purest essence.

YEs, I noticed that on your page about the Caps. What can I say? I really admire Ovechkin, and I hope Eminger picks up his game and pays big dividends for Philly this year. I think Homer is a brilliant GM but I think he could easily come out on the wrong end of the last few trades with the Caps. What did you think of Eminger while he was there?

Thank you. I did find it odd the he seemed to be playing in games they won, so I guess it's wait and see. he should have a good shot at the rebuilding Philly blueline. I am not from Philly but Montreal by Origin and am currently residing Winnipeg against my better judgment. Not a habfan at all. I lived in Toronto and worked at Maple Leaf Gardens and am not a leaf fan either. My blood is orange and black.

I write hockey columns online and will link you sometime if you like.
