Brief (around 300 words) personality outline of your character:
Naoto is a fairly quiet and reserved individual that is extremely serious about her job and anything to do with it. She takes her job as a detective very seriously, and she goes through many lengths just to do what she loves to do. One of the things that she does on a regular basis is hid her gender. She knows that women are looked down on in the field of police work, and the fact that she is still a minor works against her as well. So, on a daily basis, Naoto often wears a pair of platform shoes to add a bit of height, uses the brim of her hat to shade her eyes from the people around her, and she binds her chest so that she can hide her bust. Along with the male clothes that she wears, no one seems to realize that she's actually female. She does all of this so that she can be taken seriously by the various adults that she works with.
It's rather likely that Naoto has been hiding her gender for many years, and it's very likely that this led to her being as body shy as she is. She refuses to let anyone see her in skimpy clothing. This is something that is shown when she refuses to dot he swimsuit portion of the beauty pageant she had been forced into by the guys of the Investigation Team. She won because of her body shyness, but yeah. She's not a fan of anything that could show a ton of skin.
Shadows are usually the inner thoughts of a person - things that they never want to face or accept, and as such, they are a huge factor in the persons personality! Naoto's Shadow is no exception to this, and it even connects to her gender and age issues. Her Shadow is obsessed with operations, and the final floor of her dungeon even resembles an operating room that was taken straight from a horror movie. This is where her gender is first revealed in the game, and this is mostly because the shadow mentions that Naoto doesn't need to stay a woman and suffer.
Naoto's an extremely mature girl for her young age, as well. She's polite and a bit wordy, and tends to act fairly calm and collected. She wants to be trusted by adults, and it's something that she struggles with due to her age. This honestly irks her to no end, and this is due to the fact that Naoto hates being referred to as a child. It bothers her that she only ever seems to be needed when the police need her brain.
The Shadow addresses this as well - and if often acts extremely childish. It wears a long lab coat with sleeves that go past the hands in an attempt to give it a somewhat childish appearance. Her Shadow reveals that she's childish and prone to temper tantrums, and it's fairly obvious that she has something against the adults that cast her off unless her intelligence is needed. This shadow also shows that she's a bit lonely, because she only wants to be involved. It's difficult to be involved when the adults are always taking her age and gender into consideration when they speak to her.
With the lengths Naoto has gone through to change her appearance and personality so that she can be respected, it really shows how much Naoto wants to be a detective. Everything she does is because she wants to be a detective. The things that she does to be one aren't always the smartest of things, though. She's fairly reckless at times, and she even used herself as bait once because she wanted to get more information on the killer and how the killer was doing things. If it weren't for the arrival of the Investigation Team, this reckless act would have ended with Naoto being killed by her Shadow. She was willing to give up her life to find the killer.
Naoto is stubborn and determined as well. This is shown when she was kicked off of the case at the police department because it had been closed when Mitsuo appeared. Naoto didn't exactly believe that it had been solved though, and she promptly enrolled in Yasogami High School. Another big thing is that she is a bit impatient, and doesn't exactly like wasting time on things that she would consider petty. If she deems something as unimportant, she doesn't want to waste time on it. This is definitely shown when she calls the entire Investigation Team a pack of imbeciles because they were drunk on the atmosphere of a club and ranting on about their Personae. Her dungeon still hadn't happened at this point, so it was all pretty outlandish and weird to her. She also didn't like the fact that it felt as if they were mocking her (even if it was the complete and honest truth).
While Naoto is quite professional when she's at work, she's... really not the best person to talk to when it comes to being social. She's extremely awkward when it comes to social interactions, and has a tendency to fail at having conversations that don't pertain to her work. She's very skilled at killing the mood fairly quickly, and she does this on the school trip that happens in the game. She's just... really bad at being social.
Naoto is usually a fairly calm and collected person, but like any other person, she also has her moments of vulnerability - something that usually makes itself known when she's extremely stressed out. This isn't a side of herself that she shows very often, though, and she prefers to do as much as she can by herself in an attempt to prove her ability to be independent. She feels that she doesn't need people to help her, and she attempts to do everything herself.
Also, when her height, age, or anything remotely sexual is involved, she doesn't know how to handle it. She can be very easily flustered.
Brief (around 500 words) history and background of your character OR link to a really good wiki page with their history. In either case, explain where they cut off from the timeline:
Here is her wiki page! She is going to be coming from post-true ending, though, so here's a rundown of what happens as the player follows the story through the three different endings:
Nanako is kidnapped and taken into the TV world by Namatame-- she is eventually rescued by the team, and brought home! She has to be hospitalized, unfortunately, though. From there, Namatame is arrested, although the Investigation Team decides to interrogate him so that they can find out the truth. After the interrogation, and if someone is skipping the bad ending, the team realizes that something still isn't right.
From there, they discover that the real culprit in all of the murders is Adachi, even if he stopped kidnapping and eventually manipulated Namatame into doing it for him. The team discovers this because something isn't right, and they comb the city for answers, eventually coming to the conclusion that it was Adachi. They corner him, and after he confesses to it, he escapes into the TV world. They find out that he wants to attempt to bring the TV world fog into the real world so that all of humanity can be Shadows, but the team fights him and beats him.
However, there's someone behind the scenes with him. That someone (or something, really) is Ameno-Sagiri, the Japanese god of fog. He's the one that really wants to cover the world in a thick fog that will turn all humans into Shadows, and like Adachi and many other bosses before him, the Investigation Team defeats him-- they weren't about to allow Ameno-Sagiri to do anything like that, of course. After losing, Ameno-Sagiri removed the fog so that he could watch humanity. And that's the end of the normal ending! Although I'm going post-true ending, so there's still the final ending to cover.
The true ending starts when Adachi sends a letter from prison that makes them think that there's something else going on. The team does a bit more investigating, only to discover that the one behind everything is Izanami-- and they take their last journey into the television to face the truth, something that the goddess is incredibly impressed by. After going through one last, final dungeon and a long, hard battle, the Investigation Team wins. Her defeat makes her think that humans don't wish to be destroyed, and the fog comes to an end for good. The television world also becomes incredibly beautiful - something that symbolizes the good things that mankind has.
Sample post (just a general, everyday, puttering-around-the-ship post; please include a snippet of dialogue):
Naoto wasn't sure if she would ever get used to the plant suits-- she had her hat, of course, which was always tugged down over her eyes, but... she felt so awkward wearing what she was wearing right now! That wasn't something she should focus on now, though, even if it did make her feel slightly uncomfortable. She had something more important to do!
And it involved her heading to the Media Library. She had something specific she wanted to look into-- a couple of things, actually! She had heard that it could possibly have some of the media she had back home, so... it couldn't hurt to look, could it? And it's not like there was much to do at the moment, anyway.
And that's why she was heading there right now. It didn't take her too long to arrive even if she was still somewhat unfamiliar with her surroundings.
Upon walking in, she had to say something quietly to herself, though:
"I wonder if they will have Masked Machine... or anything Sherlock Holmes, at least. Even if they do not, I'm sure that I will still manage to find something interesting. At the very least, it doesn't hurt to look."
If the character has magic, mutant, or otherwise metahuman abilities, please explain what they are and outline EXACTLY how they function, as their powers may not work due to the nature of the ship or may need to be limited somehow:
In Naoto's world, there are a few people able to use a Persona - their alter egos, really. The only way to get one is to face your true self - the feelings and thoughts that most people wouldn't consider showing to the public. These feelings and thoughts form a Shadow, and the only way to gain a Persona by normal means is to kick the ass of the Shadow. Once that is done, the next step is to face and accept those thoughts and feelings. Naoto is one of the few people to have one of these. Anyway, the Persona that Naoto has is known as
Yamato-Takeru. It specializes in light and dark magic, as well as a type known as "almighty" magic (which is able to harm the enemy regardless of resistances). The Persona is also able to use physical attacks, although these eat away at Naoto's HP.
Non-superhuman special abilities of note (Is your character a master ventriloquist? A naturally-occurring super-genius? The best martial artist in the world? Say so here):
Naoto is also very proficient in the use of handguns. She uses it for both normal attacks that don't require the use of a Persona, as well as summoning her Persona (she shoots a tarot card in order to do it). Her proficiency when it comes to using handguns exists due to her involvement with the police and her job as a detective.
When all else fails, Naoto is very logical and rational, and she uses her natural intelligence to her advantage. She's excellent at the skills detectives should have. She's very good at reading body language and using deductive reasoning to solve the cases that come her way. She's been using these skills since she was young since she spent a lot of her childhood helping out her grandfather and the police behind the scenes - something that led to her becoming known through the media as the "Detective Prince".
When Naoto was younger, and just starting to help out her grandfather, she created seven tools of the detective. These tools of the detective are all fairly normal objects, but she modified them to help her with her work. This shows some skill when it comes to working with objects. Towards the end of her social link, she says that she could have easily put a transceiver and a camera into the badge that she gave the protagonist.
The five tools covered in the social link are:
-A detective's badge, which doesn't do anything important.
-A digital watch, with a strong enough backlight to blind the enemy.
-A ballpoint pen that has a penlight and a miniature telescope.
-A knife that has a radio in it.
-A notebook for her to write things down in.
