Okay. I'm game. I need to procrastinate. I don't think I have such interesting stories for my icons but maybe I can invent some on the spot.

I want to go read the Pigeon books now. How did I miss these when James was young? That is a really cute pigeon.

The first book only came out in 2003, so that's why. His (I want to say his, but I don't think the Pigeon is ever assigned a gender) attitude isn't so cute all the time, but I like him.

Drama Prince has requested the Pigeon books every night for the last four nights. Now that he's more talkative he delights in wagging his finger and telling Pigeon "No! No! No!" on every page.

when i first saw this post you had a different default icon and i bookmarked it to come back and comment when i had some time. except now it is gone! lucky i already saved it. ;)

on thursday i was book shopping for my husband's nieces and idly trying to recall the name or author of the pigeon book, but to no avail. i was buying them australian picture books (they're scottish) but i wanted to see the pigeon for myself. :)

it was a photo of books, cropped so that the books only showed in the lower third of the icon and the rest was a blank wall. i enjoyed the minimalism of it.

I really like that one. I snagged another one from the same creator that's pretty much the same concept, only with umbrellas.

If I use a defult icon for a long time, it usually gets retired because I associate it too much with the period in my life it represented, but the books got almost no time at all! I will use them again, I'm sure.

There was a week where I chose Tricia and James (I say that as if we are pals; ha) constantly, so I just went ahead and made them the default, and then I saw something new and shiny that I wanted, and since my other book icon represents reading _and_ writing, well, the books went.
