a day long awaited

it's so nice that no matter how long you wait for something to be published, it feels unbearable more than ever, but in retrospect it's all exactly the same...

The first issue of Through The Gate has gone up! It looks great so far.

And the poem I am proud to have in it is "Things you would pack when taken hostage."

Though I waited desperately for the magazine to actually publish (it was supposed to come out first week of August) I'm actually really glad that it came out in late September.

I REALLY enjoyed this one. I loved the "long look of a woman" and the "want to take your bed and your parents' protection" bits the best.

Is that you reading it? I like the way it was read, too.

Yes! I read it. I'm glad to hear that, because I'm pretty comfortable with recording but this is not the kind of poem I have a very strict idea of how it flows, and kind of just...went. Hah.

I think it's getting closer to being the poetry I'm aiming for--simple, even plain-spoken, but with a bit of atmosphere, too...

if it helps, I recognize that you are aiming for all those things in the poems of yours that you have shared. And when you nail the plain-spoken stuff, you nail it. Keep polishing! :D
