[Personality] Outside of The World, Chigusa is a shy and timid girl. She's hesitant around people and is very depressed. Her wrists are covered in scars from where she cut herself in suicide attempts. She was bullied over her years in school, putting her down and causing her to lose belief in herself. Even her parents were tough on her, expecting more out of her than she was capable of. But then she joined The World.
She was first introduced to The World by meeting someone on a suicide help website. Sakaki talked to her and befriended her. He understood her and liked her the way she was, starting her on the path to recovery.
Taking on the name Atoli, Chigusa joined The World with encouragement from Sakaki. Joining this led to big change in her. With the depression put aside while online, Atoli is a very sweet, kind-hearted female. She's naive and tends to always see the best in people. Though Haseo was always rude and obnoxious, she saw the kinder side of him and tried to bring that out of him more. She also has a passion for helping people. She takes part in two guilds that work towards this. Moon Tree is the first guild she takes part in. This guild is a large guild in support of harmony and peace within The World. It's main goals are to rid The World of Player-Killing, or PKing, and return it to it's old peaceful state. She also joined Canard, a guild run by Haseo to help Noobs, or new players, adapt to the game. Atoli is also very loyal. Because of what Sakaki did for her, she trusts him, even when he starts acting odd. He ends up betraying her, though she doesn't want to believe it for a while.
Atoli has a passion for animals. On many occasions, she fusses at Haseo when he tries to chase Lucky Animals, not wanting him to hurt them. She's an animal lover, as well, which probably plays a part in why she's against kicking the Lucky Animals. Outside of the game, she takes place in the Animal Club at her school and owns three birds. She even took the name Atoli from a bird, the Japanese name for a Brambling. She also has a deep love for beauty. She loves to take her time throughout The World, simply to enjoy the realistic graphics. She loves to stroll along and look at the mountains, the flowers, and really anything she might could admire. This angers Haseo on multiple times, especially when the two first met. She tells him a story of a race she was in once and that she came in last place because she kept getting distracted by the flowers. From this story, Atoli also makes it clear she's against competition, mostly because she's never actually won something, diving into her low self esteem. When Haseo tries to talk her into joining the arena with him, she's hesitant. She doesn't want to face losing, but she eventually agrees - and has victory. Of course, the idea of winning overjoys her, but one of her first thoughts was on how the losers were taking losing, showing that she's always thinking of others and their feelings.
Possibly because of her background, Atoli is very against fighting, which may seem odd for the type of game she's a part of. This is probably why she chose the Harvest Cleric class. The class is basically a healer. She can heal HP, cure status ailments, revive, and use some magic spells to attack. When Haseo first meets Atoli, she's much worse about her dislike against violence. She condemns him for being what is known as a PKK, a player-killer-killer, thinking it to be cruel and mean. As they get to know each other, she doesn't think so badly of him. In fact, it becomes clear she develops a bit of a crush on him. Haseo even manages to talk Atoli into joining the Arena with him, fighting against other players along the way, something she probably wouldn't have done for just anyone. And even then, she went to Sakaki for permission to enter first.
Though she had come a good way from her days as such a depressed teenager, it's clear that Atoli still has issues. In her early days of knowing Haseo, she tended to go to Sakaki for everything. Mostly because Haseo yelled at her, she began to make decisions on her own. Eventually she comes to the point where she gains a backbone. She begins to become a bit stubborn, even arguing when she doesn't agree with something. Especially when it comes to Haseo. Even though Haseo influenced her greatly, she still has a very low self-esteem. When it came to finding that Shino's PC was so similar to hers, she was really upset. It hurt her, making her believe that Haseo only paid attention to her for that reason.
The point Atoli is coming from, she was attacked by AIDA and lost her Epitaph, leading to the loss of mobility in her right hand. This was very hard on her, causing her to go very quiet. She would still speak, but only when spoken too. She's more hesitant and it's not hard to tell she's worried. Once her Avatar is returned, she's overjoyed and extremely grateful for what Haseo did to help her.
[Abilities] In the game The World that Atoli's from, she's what is called a Harvest Cleric. A Harvest Cleric is basically a healer. She can use an assortment of spells that can heal, revive, and cure the various status ailments (the list included below). Atoli also is an Epitaph User. She has what is called an Avatar, or Phase. During battles, she is able to summon her Avatar and use it to fight. Her Avatar is Innis, the Mirage of Deceit. As it's name applies, it has a mirage ability. Like all the eight Avatars, with Innis, Atoli is able to use Data Drain. Data Drain alters the data of it's victim, and in the case of .Hack//G.U., one receives Virus Cores upon using it on a monster. Atoli is also able to 'hear' AIDA, the main enemy of the series. It makes a high pitched noise, and only she is able to. At the point I'm taking her from, her Epitaph was stolen and she's currently unable to use it.

To describe myself? Oh, I-I...[She pauses, a bit hesitant for a moment.] A..A-A worthless pushover. I'm not good at anything, and...a-and no one really needs me. I'm not important. I'm just...here.
- Do you prefer adventure or the peaceful life?
A peaceful life, definitely! I just...I'm not one for adventure. I'd much rather take life nice and slow. How else would I get to enjoy the flowers?

Oh, the country, most definitely! I mean....cities aren't bad, it's just...the country is so much prettier! The beautiful fields, the wide open spaces, and the cute little animals! [She giggles.] What could be better?

[Again, a hesitant reply.] I...I know what it's like to be alone. It...i-it's horrible. So...now that I have friends....I-I wouldn't trade them for anything. They're more important to me than they realize...

Well, I-- [Aaand she's blushing.] I was going to meet Haseo, for training. We've been in the arena, you see! And...well, I've been busy, going to the doctor, so...I thought it'd be nice, training, just me and him!

It hadn't been long since Atoli arrived in Somarium that she decided to take a walk through the peaceful Espoir Village. Just the fact that it had the most beautiful landscape immediately made it her favorite place. So when she needed to clear her mind, she slipped out of her apartment and made her way along the path.
There had just been so much on her mind lately, it was almost hard to compute everything. Really, it was hard to compute everything. One day, she was back home, going to and from the doctor, playing on The World, and trying to balance life. And then suddenly, she was here. She still didn't understand how it happened. This was suppose to be a dream world, right? But in dreams...things were supposed to be wonderful. She wasn't suppose to be hurting anymore. But the limp arm at her side was proof that this dream wasn't as perfect as one would have excepted.
And then there was the confusion going on. Her mind was boggled by the number of people here that claimed they knew her, but she had no clue. She felt guilt to admit she didn't, feeling she was supposed to know these people. They knew her, after all. How could she forget her friends? Guilt filled her being just at the thought, and she shook her head, her mind slipping to the next thing on her mind.
Haseo. Haseo was here, which was absolutely wonderful. It filled her with delight to see him again, and, though she wouldn't admit it out loud ever, she was rather glad to have him to herself. She felt bad for thinking that, but seeing him spending time with Alkaid...she was jealous, she couldn't deny it. She wanted Haseo's attention. She craved it. But....when he gave it, it was just because she looked like Shino, wasn't it? That caused her self-doubt. She never thought highly of herself, and learning Haseo only took to her because she looked like someone he cared about--
The memories of when she was attacked by AIDA flashed in her mind and she winced, trying to push the memory from her mind. It was hard. She was reminded of her foolishness every day. Her hand was just another reminder.
And as much concern and doubt that plagued her mind, there was still something else. Hope? Yes, that seemed an appropriate word. This place....Somarium, it was a new chance. Maybe it was all a dream, but it was a place for change. Even Haseo seemed different than what she remembered. It was a few moments, but a small smile finally crept onto Atoli's face, along with a hopeful thought: maybe, finally, with the help of this place, people would finally look at her.
[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] I was here at Somarium once before, and thanks to school, I got a bit overwhelmed and had to drop. I've always loved Atoli, and I've wanted to do something with her for so long. So finding there was an opening at Somarium, I knew I wanted to bring her here. I remember just how friendly it was here, and I knew it would be the perfect place for a character like Atoli.
[Which rule was your favorite and why?] I'd have to say the being friendly rule. I know from experience that the people can make or break a person's opinions on a community.
[Where did you hear about Somarium?] Honestly, I don't remember how I heard about Somarium. Probably dear_mun? But I have been here before! I really did enjoy being here, but I had to drop thanks to school.

Her personality is the same. The only main change is that Haseo finally made her realize that crying over her mistakes isn’t going to fix her problems. Because of his speech to her, she’s decided to stand up and help in anyway see can, in order to “atone for her sins.”

Her Avatar has finally awoken, so it’s usable, but she hasn’t learned to control it just yet. Also, she has new moves that have come with her higher level. (about level 90-ish, now)
