I can't draw to save my life so have nothing technical to offer you. But being on dial-up, Jack slowly unfurled, and from the hair and eyes alone he was instantly recognisable. I do think this is your best yet.
Ianto has many faces (all beautiful :-*), and this is defintely one of them.
I’m glad they’re recognisable, that’s always nice to know :D
I wasn’t looking for technical advice (though that would be nice!) more things along the lines of “Jack’s cheekbone is too flat” or just “Jack’s cheekbone is wrong”. Sometimes I can tell that something is wrong but I can’t pin down what. I’m used to technical drawing and I miss having a pair of callipers and what I’m drawing right in front of me... though that would probably be quite distracting.
Thanks for commenting, it’s nice to know there’s improvement with my depiction of Jack.
I think the only constructive comment I can make is that Jack's nose stands out a little more than this; maybe a little bit larger. I can't really describe it properly. I'll shut up now *slinks off*
From covering up bits of your drawing (you're saying that's a quick sketch?!) I think any problems are in the jaw line and cheek, particularly between the right ear and eye.
Eyes, brow, hair , ear are all fine and recognisable in small pieces. Perhaps his face is a little too wide from eye to ear.
I had a piece of paper that hid, or uncovered areas, until I thought "that's right", than I see what's hidden. I feel terrible picking at your work like this since I could never match it.
No, no, don’t feel that way this is the kind of thing I looking for.
I agree that there’s something wrong with the jaw line. I think perhaps it should be stronger or even moved up slightly (that and the chin). I’m not sure if it’s too wide from eye to ear or if I just haven’t shaded the underlying shape of the socket properly? When I look at it now the face doesn’t seem wide enough...
Well, thank you for taking the time to do this and it’s a great help.
