Attention Writers and Potential Writers!

So, I'm hearing that the deadline is TOO CLOSE OMG. And clex_monkie89 and I were already worried about that, because we kind of thought so too. I had originally thought that we could do posting in December before Season 9 started gearing up. But what would y'all think about posting in January? I never watch the audition episodes anyway (shame on me), so it ( Read more... )

Can I just say... as late as possible? I really don't care about it running into season 9. I have a bunch of other challenges I signed up for that are due in the fall, and I thought I'd have a LOT more time to work on BB between mid-September and first drafts being due. I dunno. I could write 20,000 words in a month, but they wouldn't be GOOD words.

Sure, we can totally take that into account. If nobody cares about it running into s.9 but me (lol, I'm weird, apparently) then maybe February would be best. I'm worried about pushing it back further, because I can't stop thinking people will lose interest once s.9 starts up.

I think it shouldn't be too late because people are likely to get all sorts of wrapped up in season 9 (I won't, but I'm sure there are more who will.)

Also, I'm getting transferred over from American Bang and I was planning on working on a different time frame, so I'm a little concerned about pulling this off--especially because I'm taking 18 credit hours this semester and I'm doing NaNoWriMo in November (I'm crazy, I know). I'll just try my best! :D

See, that's what I was thinking! I probably will, lol, at least once we hit Hollywood Week.

I'm starting to think doing first draft deadline on Jan. 14th or the next week might work. That's only two weeks short of the americanbang deadline, and still early enough in the year before we get to top 12 and people start picking favorites and voting like machines. Hopefully, anyway. What would you think of that kind of a deadline? Would that work out for you?

Um, that deadline sounds LIKE A GODSEND.

I have two possible big bang stories, you see, and I don't know exactly how it's going to work out until I start writing both of them. Also, is it okay if I write more than 20K? And if David Cook's band is involved?

Also, thanks. ♥

Oh good to know, lol. I know how that goes, that's how I went into my last bigbang. OF COURSE you can write more than 20k! We would be STOKED, and yes please involve Andy and Neal and anybody else you want to! (I maybe really enjoy Andy Skib a lot more than I should I squeed for him when I watched Regis and Kelly this morning, lol)

I vote nothing that overlaps November unless there's a LOTTA lap on the other side. /crazy NaNo person

GOOD POINT. Hmmmm. "As late as possible" is pretty much winning the poll right now, lol. Soooo.

I don't want a huge deadline to disrupt NaNo, which I do every year. Unless of course it could be a part of it. :-D

The thing is that the rpfbb is wrapping up then so it NEEDS to be pushed back cause doing both by then is crazy O.O

Also it seems there are a fair few NaNoers around here, so we should take that into account too.

I think that you could leave the deadline as it is, but it would translate into tons of drops... But you can still push the deadline back to November and start posting in December - you just need to warn that by pushing the deadline back a month, people should have their drafts as edited as possible by November.

I know I can make it for October 31st, so my other option is - give the posting dates according to what people can or can't do in that time, and don't move the posting if you don't really want to. For example, there would always be people who could post in the very beginning, and people who could use a little more of time. The deadlines could be movable for the different dating posts, if you know what I mean.

The problem that we're really having right now is that the earlier deadline is translating into a lack of sign-ups at all, though. People don't think they can do it so they're just not signing up. And pushing the date back as far as possible is kind of winning the poll. And the RPFBB is wrapping up with a deadline in November too, which I didn't know.

I get what you're saying about the posting dates there, and yeah that's why we have the "you can request an earlier or later posting date" thing in place, but if we're overlapping with several major challenges, which we are with a date in November (both RPF BB and NaNoWriMo), I feel like it wouldn't be fair to everyone who wants to participate to have a really restrictive timeframe. Does that make sense?

I'm starting to think doing first draft deadline on Jan. 14th or the next week might work. Or maybe the 7th. That's only two weeks short of the americanbang deadline, and still early enough in the year before we get to top 12 and people start picking favorites and voting like machines. Hopefully, ( ... )

I get your point.

If you do get to set the deadline that late, I may be able to come up with 2 different stories, though I won't know until, let's say, November. So if by then you set up a pinch-hitter posts or something like leate sign ups to cover dropouts, give me a shotout!

And I do think it's a good idea.
