Summary: Harry reflects on his relationship

Prompts used were journey, quarrel, regret and forgiveness respectively.
“Every second of being in a relationship with Draco Malfoy was one journey after another. Everything went at one hundred miles an hour and it would never decrease. We worked hard, we played hard and we fought hard. People kept telling us we wouldn’t last and we were determined to prove them wrong. So we went out of our way to be extra loving to each other just to rub their noses in it and it worked for a while. At the time we really loved each other and the fact that we were proving them wrong made us stronger.

It started off with small things. Some really small but really irritating things that used to drive me and Draco crazy. He drank too much and I ate too loudly. He was grumpy in the mornings and I snored at night. We nitpicked until we ran out of things to criticise about each other. And that was when the silence began. I thought it was easier at first and I didn’t care when he went to bed without saying goodnight. But it soon became obvious what was happening. He was having an affair and he was planning on leaving me.

I said some horrible things and he cried his eyes out and then I felt really bad because I made him cry and I was always making him cry, only this time I could see tears and not just hear him trying not to sniff too loudly under the sheets. And then he left. And that was the last I ever saw of him.”
“The horrible things you said… do you regret saying them?”
“No. He deserved them. He had been having an affair. In my eyes that is one of the lowest, most cowardly acts you could ever do.”

“And the fact he was leaving you?”
“It hurt. It hurt a lot.”
“Can you forgive him?”
“No. Why should I? He left me.”
“Harry, you said yourself that when your relationship eventually fell silent you were perfectly happy when it happened as it made things easier. But perhaps Draco wasn’t. Are you angry that he cheated on you or are you angry that he walked out of a relationship that wasn’t really there any more? As bad as it all was for you, he must have been going through similar emotions too.”
Harry reflected on this for a while.
