Do I never make my theories public?
Seriously, spoilers for Agent Carter, do not read on if you're not up to date!
Last week, with all the hypnosis hanky panty, I thought "Oh, Ivchenko is the MCU Dr Faustus, that's going to be interesting for Civil War if they plan on following the original plot in any way at all" - although given the way Extremis was played out in IM3 I seriously doubt it, especially since it would mean losing one of the MCU golden geese.
Anyhow, this week's Agent Carter had confirmed my theory, for what was he reading in the flashback? Dr Faustus! And given that Faustus is one of Red Skull's cronies, it makes me wonder if there is a connection between Leviathan and HYDRA (which would tie nicely with the MCU version of the Winter Soldier backstory)
OK, so this is the point where I stop rambling and bigger marvel geeks than I come along and point out that Ivchenko was obviously Faustus and my theories are flawed for whatever bit of canon I've forgotten about, so that's probably why I don't make my theories known! So at least I answered my own question 😄
