Christmas is Driving me Crazy

It's not the holiday - it's not the Christmas trees, or Christmas lights, or Christmas colors - no, it's not people saying Merry Christmas, or even mistletoe. IT'S THE MUSIC. I can't take it anymore!! There's got to be a limit to how long and how often radio stations play Christmas music. I can't listen to the radio this time of year - it's so ( Read more... )

My dad gets so pissed off every year because he can't listen to his favorite radio station, Lite FM, since it's all Xmas music all the time from Thanksgiving Day on. It really makes no sense, especially considering that Lite FM is a NY station, and we all know how many Jews live in NY. Do the producers and managers really think it's ok to alienate such a huge part of their audience every year?

I was thinking the same thing this morning. That if I had to hear one more Christmas song I would scream. And scream. And scream. And scream some more! It makes it worse that I'm not limited to the radio either. There's a player piano in the hospital lobby (YES a player piano, this IS Greenwich after all...) and it's been playing Christmas music nonstop for the past month. And it filters out into parts of the rest of the hospital so I constantly hear it. Plus all the people singing and humming and AAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!

We were just on a cruise, and I don't know if they forgot their mellow muzak at the port or what, but all they played in every public area was Christmas music. There was no escaping it. We felt like we were living in a mall. Especially crazy were the songs like "I'm dreaming of white Christmas" - songs that were exactly what we had paid money to avoid.
