I'm pretty sure Harry was the first alt out. I mean because of the drug stealing, knowing a tailor and the 'hey! I know this place!' when he entered the squad room from the morgue. And Harry had been there before from the hooker gets dead episode.

Also, in my opinion (which is definitely a biased one since Sam's my fave alt) I think the one at the end of the bomb ep and this one were both Sam. The only reason he used his words instead of his fists both times were because of the extreme circumstances: guy with a bomb, and two guys with a gun and a hostage situation. Seeing the bad guy get theirs is Sam's MO, and maybe he doesn't dish it out in those two instances in a direct scene, but what he says winds up leading to the deaths of both. Deed done.

Mostly I think they should start wearing name tags so we wouldn't have to guess...

Good points about Harry. The more I think about it, the more I agree with you - esp the drug stealing. And the duuuude. At first I thought it was kid!Ben because he seemed more bewildered than amused.

But I still think it was Ivan later on. So far, Sam was all immediate action and violence. Ivan's the one who takes others apart verbally and really gets under their skin. Not sure Sam is this observant, plus he has this rough voice. But I wouldn't bet money on it...

Mostly I think they should start wearing name tags so we wouldn't have to guess...

Totally agree!

Just saw this episode and OMG!
Such tension and in your face-fast paced energy. I would have to say that this goes into my top spots of faves (contrary to popular vote of faves the first ep is my favorite.) I just love how this show aims for realism, not giving characters flaws and mistakes every other episode just to prove to audience that they are somewhat real and relatable, (God bless Canada for their lenience on broadcasted profanity). I do wish (so very very much) that we would get to see kidBen ( I loved his crying vulnerability, kudos to CKR's acting) and perhaps some personalities that weren't so in your face Lew Ashby types. I also wonder when we will get to see what I think is Harry in solid form (when he was chatting with Ben while brushing his teeth) that truly will be one hell of an episode.

How cool you like the Pilot best! Anything in particular?
I guess the music puts me off, mainly.

And ya, totally agree that this show has some of the more realistic characters on TV, despite Ben's unique, uh, "problem" ;)

I also wonder when we will get to see what I think is Harry in solid form (when he was chatting with Ben while brushing his teeth) that truly will be one hell of an episode.

That was in the trailer for the first pilot they shot and which was revamped into the Pilot we saw. Back then they wanted different actors to portray Ben's alters, hence you actually saw Sam.
But now CKR is playing them all, so we won't get to see that scene. (Unless it's included on the DVDs as an extra).

Fingers crossed they'll include it as an extra on the DVDs. Would love to see it!

Another great review for another great episode! :D

At first I thought it was kid!Ben in the morgue and after, too. After a while I got more Harry vibes (tailor etc.). It's a bit hard to tell them apart since Harry has also childlike qualities. But in the end, that was definitely Ivan, telling mean stuff with a gentle voice. (Don't think pussy!alter was Ivan though - he's more of an analytical talker and tends to rant.)

The storytelling and acting was just stellar. WOW. I also loved that it was mentioned that somebody died, but it wasn't clear until the end who did. I hoped it would be Nick, hee.

So our suspicions re: a tragic childhood were right! I love the small hints that were dropped in earlier eps, like "Sound of a Strap". I wonder if Ben really doesn't recall what happened to him when he was a kid. I once read that traumatic cildhood experiences can get completely suppressed by the subconcious.

I actually think (hope) this is the reason they keep appearances from Ivan and/or Kid!Ben to a minimum for now. Ben may not be able to/want to remember, but I think one of the alts might because one of them took over during any sessions of abuse.

I think Ben suspects, as he evaded the Doc's question quickly. And totally agree with you about why they donÄt use Ivan and particularly kid!Ben as often. I think kid!Ben may remember more than the others... when he showed up during the bomb scene, he recoiled automatically like an abused puppy.

Hey!!! Man, I really need to set myself more LJ time ;)

It's a bit hard to tell them apart since Harry has also childlike qualities.

Yeah, exactly. That's what threw me at first. He had this totally bewildered look on his face. But then that means the kid personality is prolly much younger, yay!

I also loved that it was mentioned that somebody died, but it wasn't clear until the end who did. I hoped it would be Nick, hee.

Heeee! I kind of liked Nick in this one. Made him look like he's misguided and not really a bad guy. Before, I thought he'd end up doing something really stupid sometime this season.
And ya, the set-up for the ep was great!

I wonder if Ben really doesn't recall what happened to him when he was a kid.

That was a bit odd, as it seemed he does remember in this ep. Note how quickly he changed the subject when the Doc started asking him about it. Maybe it's something he suspects. He has been collecting what triggered what alter... guess we will see...

And new ep, EEEEEE!
