I don't know a ton about them but I rode in a Prius recently and was really impressed. It was the nerdiest car I'd ever been in with all sorts of buttons and gadgets and readouts. Plus, it was really quiet. I'd almost consider getting one if I didn't think it might be a little cramped in the driver's seat for me.
I've only been in one once, and it was several years ago. I found it quite uncomfortable. If I got a hybrid, I'd get the hybrid Civic anyway.
I'm pretty sure if I ever move back to the US I'll end up with something like that.
And Clarkson *has* to play to type by bashing the 'green' car. He wouldn't be him otherwise. It might cause rips in the fabric of reality in this country if he didn't play a caricature of himself on Top Gear.

I personally think every nerd/geek would rather have a Tesla supercar anyway.

I guess going from the #13 car in their Top 100 in 2006 to a total bashing, the 2007 model sucks ass?
I'm not a car person so I don't really know. =P
