“Yoseob, sit down. Now.”
The classroom holds its breath as Yoseob tilts his chin upward challengingly, refusing to obey. His desk is clear and his backpack is in mid-swing onto one shoulder and he is poised to leave at moment.
“I said sit. If you don’t, I’ll send you to the principal’s office,” the teacher threatens, smacking a ruler against the palm of his hand for emphasis, slowly walking up the aisle to where Yoseob stands. Yoseob steps out to meet him.
“I’m not taking this test.”
“Now, listen here, young man, I’ve had just about enough of your recalcitrance. You ought to have been expelled months ago but I suppose the principal is just too damn soft!”
Yoseob grins slightly. “Oh, no, he seems very hard to me, sir.”
“If you don’t shape up soon, I will personally see to it that you are expelled by the end of the week.” The teacher doesn’t seem to hear Yoseob’s retort. “Do you hear me, Mr. Yang?”
“Do it then, old man.” Yoseob’s eyes narrow. He is fearless. “I dare you.”
The teacher quivers with rage, with an onslaught of insults and diatribes that he knows will get him fired if he ever utters them aloud, and so he points at the door. “Get out.”
Yoseob smiles contentedly and his classmates begin muttering to themselves, wondering how on earth he can be so unruffled after being thrown out of class. Each and every one of them knows that if they were in his place, they’d be anything but calm.
He pushes in his chair in a mocking gesture of courtesy and walks out of the room with a sort of spring in his step. The teacher should’ve known better than to try and discipline Yang Yoseob; he has connections with the higher-ups and can do basically whatever he fancies.
Despite not being ordered directly by his teacher, Yoseob makes his way to the principal’s office to ensure that this disorderly conduct won’t be on his permanent record.
Doojoon’s secretary waves him into his office - Dongwoon is one of the few that know what goes on behind those closed doors - and Yoseob finds Doojoon in the middle of some paperwork. He seats himself in a chair and waits patiently.
At last, Doojoon looks up and stows his reading glasses in a little drawer on the right-hand side of his desk. He smiles and Yoseob smirks.
“What can I do for you, Mr. Yang?” Doojoon’s eyes flash with an amusement at their seemingly platonic exchange.
“I have an appeal, sir.” Yoseob leaves his bag at the foot of his chair and walks around Doojoon’s desk until they are face to face. He tugs at his tie and unbuttons the first few buttons of his uniform shirt. Doojoon cannot seem to tear his eyes away.
He swallows. “And that would be?”
Yoseob kneels in front of Doojoon’s chair and he instinctively opens his legs. Doojoon knows what’s coming. It’s happened enough times to become a force of habit.
“I’m asking for an exchange of sorts, sir.” Yoseob’s fingers dance to Doojoon’s belt. “A favor for a favor…”
“What do I have to do?” Doojoon’s voice catches in his throat.
“Don’t expel me.”
Doojoon chuckles as his belt clatters to the floor. “Why would I ever do that? You’re probably one the best, most, ah, talented and experienced students I have ever met.”
Yoseob moves closer and exhales. “Are we agreed, then? A favor for a favor?”
The look on Doojoon’s face is answer enough.
