Any interest in a comic "book club"?

Okay, this reboot thing is managing to terrify and frustrate me - retconning Babs back into Batgirl? And who the hell knows what else? Presumably deleting younger characters I love all along the way?  I can't even throw my hands up and say "AAARGH! DC I AM NOT BUYING YOUR BOOKS ANYMORE, TAKE THAT" because I did that when Lian was fridged, and they ( Read more... )

The one series I think all Batlovers should read is Gotham Knights. It was some of the best characterizations and character introspectives I've seen for them. A lot of them give glimpses at the characters that is usually missing from the average comic story, glimpses that show the reader how very human (and flawed) the characters are.

It's from this series that I draw the bulk of my Bruce Wayne characterization for my fanfics.

I would totally be down for a comic book reading club.

There's so *much* I want to read! But my vote goes to Superboy, the original Kon run. I've wanted to read that forever, and I've never done it ( ... )

I would so very much love to join this book club. I have the first 6 original superboys and 11-14 I think. I also have tons of Robins(Tim) all over the place from issue 1 to around 160 (with many a gap mind you). And a few Young Justice 100pg specials. I'm looking into getting some Impulse but the older comics are actually pretty expensive where I am. My point though is that if we were to do their old runs I would (if I can figure out how to work my scanner) be able to upload some of them. Or even just a few pages for reference. Young Justice was and is my favourite team ever. I would love to be able to talk about them and not get weird looks.
I am so worried that their gonna retcon Tim into never having been Robin. I totally need a place to talk about old him with people who understand.

the Deathstroke series was an amazing look at a character DC later changed into a villain who started out as a rather sympathetic in-between gray-matter.

You should so do it! And if you do I'll try to do a local chapter in my city too. Every week for months now my pull request email to my comic vendor reads something like. "Everything continues to suck. Nothing for me please."
