I totally agree with you, it seems so bandwagony how many people suddenly care about this Kony cause. How did this even become popular all of a sudden? I remember at the beginning of the week a couple of people on my FL's had posts and then today its like half of my FB newsfeed is about Kony. I'm just not even acknowledging it... I'd feel way too much like a hypocrite if I started caring now because everyone else is. I bet you maybe, MAYBE 1 out of 100 people will research more on this issue. Its too easy to post the Kony stuff on FB and then feel good about yourself.
We got enough trouble with the Republicans trying to drag us into more Wars. Last thing we need is regular citizens doing it too. I know a thing or two about Kony. He's a prick, if I ever saw him I'd beat the shit out of him. Ten years ago the same bandwagon was driving around Zimbabwe and Iraq. There are dozens of leaders like Kony right now doing the same things he is. Should we go to war with all of these places? And if we do how many more will die as a result of the fighting, and as a result of the leader's last few lashes out of power while he is taken down? And then what? How do you prevent another oppressive leader or one who is looking for revenge from taking power? I know I'm off on a bit of a tangent but these issues are as you said...trends of the week and they have been getting to me
