What's up with American Wal-Mart?

So in Canada Wal-Mart is like a normal store that everyone shops at daily. When I see pictures of it in the states or see people from the states talking about it it seems like a store people are ashamed to admit to shopping in. And what the HELL is up with the way people who go there dress

In the states it's a normal store that everyone shops at....and then everyone pretends they do not shop at.

Target is like a smaller and 'higher class' Walmart. If that even makes sense.

I shop at Walmart....quite frankly it's very convenient to go to a store that has everything you'd need. I'm not sure about the Walmarts in Canada but the stores here are absolutely enormous.

Apparantly people are pissed here because the Target's aren't even a good deal compared to the States. A Target opened in Toronto and surrounding smaller towns and people compared the price to the US Target and it wasn't great. At some point I'll go to Target just to see how it is, I'm betting its still probably better than Zellers was.
