He called. I didn't expect him to call me. I didn't want to answer, but what the hell, I had to. His voice hoarse, I recognized the slow moving tone. I've heard it, I've used it. It sounded like heartbreak. It almost sounded like his drunk calls I've received so many times.  Every word deliberate, almost rehearsed.
