Dream 19
“Haven’t done yet, Yama-chan?” Yuri asked. He, Ryosuke and Yuto were on a school trip to a strawberry farm.
Ryosuke shook his head as his mouth was full of strawberries.
His two friends sighed. Two hours had passed since they wandered around and ate the luring red fruit - which Ryosuke was so enthusiastic on. The teacher could call them in no time so they had to standby.
“Are you a ruminant?” Yuto asked.
No answer. How could him to do so with a mouth, full of strawberries?
“Silence usually signs a ‘yes’” Yuri made his own assumption.
“Well, it is better than being a rodent,” Ryosuke continued plucking his precious ‘things’. “Go first, if you want. I’ll follow soon,” he told them as he realised how tired they were on him.
“Okay, we’ll go first. Bye~,” Both Yuri and Yuto said it in chorus and waved simultaneously.
Fifteen minutes later, Ryosuke was done. With two baskets full of his ‘dinner’, he walked out of the rows of the herbaceous plants. Nobody was really there, he was alone. Perhaps the others were waiting for him while babbling on the bus. Realizing that, he fastened his step.
Suddenly, he heard a groaning voice. Someone’s in pain?
He rushed to the voice to find a girl was kneeling down, rubbing her strain ankle.
Shizuka? Tough it had been quite a time; he still recognised the ‘cake-thief’.
“Are you okay?” he asked her softly, totally different of their first meeting tone.
Shizuka turned to see Ryosuke’s empathy face. I can’t admit defeat! Girls got power too! She tried to stand up - to tell him that he was not needed - but she failed to do so.
“Can you walk?” Ryosuke was trying to show his concern.
Still no answer, just try and try of standing up.
As for Shizuka, her energy was not that much. After her third trials, she could not stand it anymore. She fell on the ground, lying down - exactly in front of Ryosuke’s eyes!
No choice, Ryosuke put aside his precious ‘dinner’ and moved closer to her. He carefully held the body and carried it - bridal-like!
“Hey, what are you doing?” the first word of her was the protestation. “Let me down! Let me down! LET ME DOWN!” she screamed out loud. She did not care if anybody would hear.
But the only person there - who should be hearing the scream - had turned ‘deaf’. Yamada ignored the protesting scream although his eardrum was about to burst out.
Soon, the couple - not really tough - reached the parked buses. Just like Ryosuke’s thought, they were the last to arrive. Ryosuke headed towards the girls’ bus and boarded it - ignoring what others would say.
“Where is her place?” Ryosuke was already on the bus, with Shizuka who tried hard to free herself still in his arms.
The girls chattered among themselves about how Ryosuke had a nice look on, how much they dreamt of being in Shizuka’s place and how ungrateful Shizuka was.
“Here! Here!” Rhea waved her hand, attracting Ryosuke’s attention of her position. She smiled. Somehow, she felt envious to her own friend.
He seated Shizuka carefully beside Rhea.
“Thank you for helping my friend,” Rhea bowed as she tried to get his attention too.
“You’re welcome, my girl,” The ‘my girl’ word was meant for Shizuka - to tease her - but Rhea the one who blushed.
“My girl?” Shizuka put on an uninterested face. “Unless you are an engineer, or else never claim me as your girl,”
Ryosuke choked his saliva. The words were playing again and again in his mind.
“Oh crap! I forgot my dinner!” And with that he rushed out of the bus to get his ‘dinner’.
Luckily they were still safely there.
“Good that I remember, or I’ll slim of craving,” he babbled alone as he calculated the strawberries to make sure none was stole!
“How dare him to touch my butt!” Shizuka protested as soon as Ryosuke vanished from her sight.
“He touched your butt??” Rhea asked, unbelievably.
“Of course, he was carrying me after all,”
Rhea released a relieved breath. “But it was not on purpose,” she looked at Shizuka with the tail of her eyes. Shizuka did not notice that weird evil look. Shizuka, I’m sorry but now we’re rivals! I won’t let you to have him so easily!
“But still, it was so embarrassing,” Shizuka did not realise that she was actually blushing. Rhea noticed that - and again, she looked at her with such evil look! She bit her lower lip indicated that she was so angry and envious.
“Jaa~ Oyasumi~~” Shizuka put on her eye mask and dozed off to her dreamland.
* ruminant; eg: cow - has four chambers of stomach - rumen, reticulum, omasum, abomasum. The food is first chewed by the mouth before enter the rumen in which the cellulose wall is broken down with the help of bacteria. In reticulum, future hydrolysis occurs and the food is known as cud. Bit by bit, it is regurgitating in the mouth. Next, it is channeled to the omasum where water is moved. Finally, in abomasum which is the true stomach, the process of digestion takes place, with the aid of digestive enzymes.
The simplified pathway is like this : mouth --> rumen --> reticulum --> mouth again --> omasum --> abomasums à small intestine
* rodent; eg: rabbit - they are herbivores too. But unlike ruminant, rodent does not chew its food twice. Instead it eats its first faeces - which released at night and soft in nature - for they contains sufficient nutrient to aid its digestive system. The second batch of faeces are hard and usually expelled in morning (and they don’t eat it XD)
These two unique adaptations are two allowed cellulose of plant cell wall to be digested since ruminant and rodent (as well as human) cannot produce cellulose - enzyme for breaking cellulose. The digestive system also is aid by bacteria in their alimentary canal.

“What a shame of me, quarreling with a handsome guy, such a big waste,” Chihara muttered alone as she was arranging her books on the shelf.
“What is that?” Yume asked her. She was helping Chihara tidied up the so-called ‘Official Student Council Room’.
“Nothing much. This book is good, it’s a waste to not reading it,” Chihara twisted the real muttering while pretended to clean the dusty book entitled Folklore and Traditional Remedies : It does work!
Lucky for her that Yume did not hear her very well!
Chihara opened the medium-thick book for once and a line from the content attracted her - ‘How to overcome problems with your partner - in other word, the person you love? A simple way~’.
She jumped to the page quickly and started reading the tips given.
First, mix two solutions in a beaker or any bowl at home. For this example, I’ll use salt [Sodium chloride, NaCl] and lead (II) carbonate [PbCO3]
Stir them out until precipitate formed.
Then, filter the mixture of the solution.
The remaining solution (means the water-ish part) is thrown out. It is not needed.
Rinse the residue with water and clean it between two papers (or kitchen cloth).
Finally, it is crytallised and you obtain lead (II) chloride salt, an insoluble salt!
“What the heck is this book? Want to kill us or what?” Chihara cursed it for giving such illogical tips. The truth was that she was fooled by the words! Anybody could guess it from the very beginning. Who on earth will use lead (II) carbonate in remedies?
“You should properly read the cover,” Yume turned to the book cover and pointed to a line ‘Warning: Don’t try this at home. Or you’ll die XD’.
Chihara sighed. “You should have told me earlier,” she whacked Yume as she returned the book to its original place.
* lead (II) carbonate - used to make paint!
A/N: I know my explanation suck! If you find any mistake, just point it out yo! I expect this to be later, but seem that I got time to sneak ^^
As always, comments~
