Dream 33

For a while, Ryutaro was staring at Miki, observing her from head to toe. He seemed to be spacing out so Miki shook her hand in front of his gaze.

“Hello! Where have you been?”

Ryutaro shook his head vigorously. “Ah...ah, nowhere…I’m right here,”

“Then, what’s with just now?” Miki asked, unsatisfied.

“Aa…aa…nothing,” Ryutaro was still fumbling. “Just that…you look different today,” finally he was able to speak out his mind.

“Pretty,” he expressed his compliment.

Miki frowned, “Are you trying to say that I’m not pretty before?”

“Eh…no…no. It’s not what I mean,” Ryutaro signed his sincere compliment through his shaking hand.

“Well, you rarely wear this,” he pointed to the baby blue knee-length skirt that she was wearing.

“Who said? This is my usual style, you know!” Miki bashed him for being wrong. “It’s just that I never wear it in front of you. Plus…it is a bit shorter today,” she lowered her tone at the last phrase.

“And this too,” he referred to her metallic black handbag.

“Well, to be honest, I hate using a handbag because I tend to forget it easily,” Miki explained. “But today my clothes don’t have any pocket, so no choice; I have to bring one with me.”

“But…why the stripe is so wide?” Somehow the wide stripe made the handbag looked weird. But in the same time, it added to its uniqueness criteria.

“Uh…the wide stripe provides a larger surface area and thus it reduces pressure exerted on my shoulder, pretty well, the concept of pressure,”

“Oh yeah, I forgot,” Ryutaro grinned. “Well, I’m not using one, so…I don’t know,” then he chuckled. In fact, he was impressed with her ability to apply what she learnt in daily life.

Suddenly, the wind blew harder and Miki’s mini skirt was blown upward. She quickly covered it back.

“RYU-KUN, YOU DON’T SEE ANYTHING, DO YOU?” she could not help but to shout.

“Of course no,” he answered bluntly. “But, there’s something pinkish with polka dot,” he merely muttered only to receive a smack from Miki.

“Ryu-kun, useless!!” she exclaimed.

“Hey, it’s not my fault. Blame the wind!”

“Huh!” she sighed.

“Still mad?”

“Never mind, it’s no use to be mad anywhere,” she sighed again. “Anyway, speaking of wind, I remember Bernoulli.”

“Bernoulli? Who’s him?” Ryutaro asked quickly. Curiousity could be sense from his tone.

“Why? Are you jealous?” Miki chuckled.

“Of course, no. Why must I?”

“Don’t lie. Your face tells me,” Miki teased him. “Well, Bernoulli stated the Bernoulli’s principle - a principle regarding pressure in moving fluid (air or water).”

“Oh, that’s principle! You should have told me earlier!” he complained. “It states that when the speed of fluid increases, the internal pressure in it decreases and vice versa.”

“Wow! You remember every single word of the explanation!” Miki praised him - perhaps for the first time!

“Well, my skirt consists of internal surface area and outer surface area. When the wind on the outer surface move faster, the pressure on it (the outer surface) decreases. It will produce a difference in air pressure where the pressure exerted on the internal surface area is bigger than the outer surface. The difference of air pressure will lift the skirt,” as expected from Miki!

“And then…thanks to it, I got to see…”

“See what?” Miki cut him. She rounded her eyes, indicating a warning.

Ryutaro grinned, showing a line of his white shiny teeth.

“Huh! All boys are the same - PERVERT!”

“I’m not!” Ryutaro defended himself. Miki pouted.

“Okay, I guess enough of it. I’m sorry,” Finally Ryutaro admitted defeat or else the tongue-fight would be endless. “Well, where’s your gadget?”

“Ops, I almost forget. Good that you remind me. Thanks,” Miki took out something from her paper bag.

“Water rocket?” Ryutaro asked for confirmation. Miki nodded.

“I thought it would be something more stunting,” he commented.

“Hey, watch your mouth! This is not as simple as you think,” again, he was bashed back.

“Sorry, Miki-chan. You look cuter when you’re mad,” he tried to tease.

“Enough of it,” Miki stopped him. But she was actually blushing.

“What are you waiting for?” Ryutaro asked. He bent his body a bit for a clearer look of the water rocket. “Let’s play!”

“Ha?” Miki startled. “It’s not a toy! It can cause injuries and accidents if not handled carefully.”

“Ah, just leave it to me, the professional,” Ryutaro exposed his not-so-cool side. “I’m promise you’ll not be injured as long as I’m here,” he ensured her.

“Eh? Do you mean anything?” Miki was stunted by his sudden word.

“Do think it does?” he teasingly asked.

“Not really,”

And they started to play like small kids.

Bernoulli’s principle explanation. Imagine the blue oblong as the skirt ^^.

I’m really sorry. I’m not that good in handling this gadget too. So, I can’t really explain it. Again, I’m really sorry, girls. You can get the explanation either here or here.

Basically, the principle of working is like this:

1. The rocket is filled with water and compressed air.

2. When the nozzle is taken off, the rocket rises.

3. The compressed air exerts a force on the water.

4. The water is forced out.

5. As to obey the principle of conservation of energy, the rocket moves upward.

It is generally same with the launching of rocket. The water is forced out at a high speed. So it produces a large momentum backward. To stabilise it, the rocket move upwards with the same momentum magnitude.

Well, sucked explanation D:

I’m really sorry *bow*

***************

So, by 9.50 a.m. the next day, Chihara had already waited outside. While waiting, she sat on the swing for some refreshment. A butterfly landed just beside her.

By 10 sharp, a sound of car was heard. Chihara elongated her neck only to see a black metallic Honda Civic was parked in front of the gate. Knowing that it was Yume, she quickly approached it. You never told me that you are that rich!

As she came nearer, she got to see the driver’s face more clearly which eventually stopped her just a few meters away. The driver came out with a broad smile, moving nearer to the statue-like Chihara.

Seeing no response, the person grabbed her before opening the front door for her. After seated her, the person quickly went back to the driver position a.k.a beside Chihara.

And then, the car drifted away as swift as the light…

A/N: As I mentioned before, I really is not good with water rocket. So, if you have better explanation, you can tell me. I'm really sorry for my weakness, gomen..

Hara-chan, your full story will be next. But I'm still not sure when will be the update. And my mission fail D: leaving me with one more chapter :(

Since school starts again tomorrow, I have promise myself to lessen my LJ 'work' till my exam end. I'll still update but basically like this..slow and steady :D

Anyway, comments are much appreciated.
