Dream 37
The next day, the trio went to look for Shizuka - quite early in the morning - after being urged by the not-so-patient Miki. They found her was doing something at her table.
“Hi, Shizu-chan!” Luisa greeted her.
“Hi, Luisa! Long time no see,” Shizuka greeted back, but she seemed confused with the trio’s sudden appearance.
“I’m Yuuki,”
“Miki-chan,”
“Actually, we want to ask you something,” Luisa asked. Her tone was somehow serious that Shizuka felt nervous. The serious look of Yuuki - which was usual for her - added to her curiosity. Have I done anything wrong?
“We want to know…whether you already have a group for the project.”
Shizuka took a relief breath, “Oh, I thought what it was. You guys panicked me,”
“Well, we love to do it,” Miki butted in.
“Enough, Miki,” Luisa warned.
“It’s okay,” Shizuka turned to Miki before looking back to Luisa. “No. I haven’t decided yet. Why?”
“If that so, we are offering you to join us,” Luisa explained their real intention of coming.
“Join you guys?” Yuuki nodded.
“Oh, such an honour! You guys are excellent student. Is it really alright to have me in?”
“Don’t say like that,” Yuuki acted humbled although she was actually blushed. “You’re excellent too. In fact, everybody here is,”
“However, we still lack of a member. Do you have any friend who can join us?”
“Let me see,” Shizuka looked at her classmates’ seats one by one before stopping at Rhea’s empty seat.
“I think only her who do not have group yet,”
“Who?”
“Rhea,” Shizuka’s tone was nearly inaudible. But Luisa could guess from her lips movement.
“Who is it?” Miki asked. Again, she was being impatient.
“Shh!” Luisa, the secret-keeper shushed her. Miki quickly understood and kept her mouth shut.
“So, are you sure she hasn’t been in any yet?”
Shizuka nodded. “I pretty sure since she haven’t back yet,”
“Well then, she can join us,” Yuuki, the unofficial leader decided.
“But, I don’t know when she will back,”
“It’s fine. We can do her part,”
***************
“What do you want to tell me?” Yuto asked Yume as soon as they reached the pavement.
“Nothing really,” Yume caught a breath. “I just want to spend some time with you, is it wrong?”
“Not wrong…but…so sudden…,” Yuto commented.
“I’m going oversea, furthering my study,” she paused. “I’m off to Oxford by the end of this sem,” she added.
“Oxford? Sugoi!” Yuto exclaimed. But soon after that, he sighed, “But, you can’t.”
“Why I can’t?”
“I need you,” Yuto pretended to be sad.
“Need me?” Yume responded in quite cheesy tone, teasing him. Yuto blushed.
“No…I mean, I need you for my academic life survival. You help me much in studies… my informal tutor… homework completer, don’t you?” Yuto stressed his real meaning.
“So, you only ‘use’ me all this while?” Yume sent a whack to him. He tried to avoid but Yume was faster.
“No…it’s not like that. Just that…I can learn more things if you are around,” he expressed his real meaning. “You’re very precious to me. In fact, you’re the closest to me,” he tried to steal a full glance of her.
“Yuto,” she called his name. “You have to remember that our day is not always sunny, it is not bright forever. Sometimes rain pours and we have to accept it because after rain stops, colourful rainbow will appear. Just like that,” she pointed to the sky where the seven-color rainbow was visible.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Yuto nodded. He understood very well what she tried to say.
“Well, Yume-chan, I guess I should change my life style. I have to be independent and not to cling onto others despite any matter,”
“Plus you are the eldest son. So, your responsibility towards your family is very big. Remember that,” she advised him, leaving her last ‘will’ for him.
“Yume-chan, I have one thing to ask tough,” Yuto put on a serious face that Yume thought it would be something related to his life.
“What is it?”
“How the rainbow is formed?” he grinned and was ready to receive any whack but none came.
“Dispersion, refraction and total internal reflection of light. Water droplets act as the prisms,”
Yuto frowned, “Yume-chan, I can’t understand it at all!” he pinched her right arm.
“Ouch!” Yume yelled. “Okay, okay, I’ll explain properly. When the sunlight travel from air (less dense) to the water droplets (denser), it refracts and ‘bends’ inward. Within the water droplets too, the sunlight disperse its colour. Then, due to total internal reflection, the colourful rays are refracted out. And then…whoop! The rainbow forms!”
She turned to Yuto to realize that he was actually not paying attention.
“Hey! You ask me yet you ignore me!” she pinched his arm. He tried to avoid but ended up crashing himself to the side and nearly fell down on Yume. Luckily he managed to get his balance back, thanks to gymnastics class he attended.
As they stabilized themselves back, Yume noticed three figures from the opposite direction as her.
“Luisa-chan!” she waved to attract her.
“Yume-chan,” Luisa replied, but the tone was lame - not as excited as someone would be on meeting her friend. However, Yuuki sensed it.
“You know her? But she looks like a uni student,” Yuuki spoke out her confusedness. Luisa fumbled. She didn’t know how to explain it.
“I’m Sakura Yume. Second year of University,” she quickly offered a handshake to Yuuki, neutralizing the tense atmosphere. “Yuto’s cousin.”
Luisa startled upon hearing the last part of introduction. Duh, why hasn’t she revealed it before so I won’t have this jealous feeling? She looked straight into Yume’s eyes for confirmation. Yume smiled and nodded.
Luisa moved forward and hugged Yume. Slowly she whispered, “Yume-nee, I’m sorry,”
Yume caressed Luisa’s silky black hair and whispered back, “You’re forgiven, dear. Take care of Yuto, will you?”
Luisa could just nod.

Yuya was heading to the café when he suddenly bumped into Machiko.
‘Hey, Machi-chan! Long time no see,” he greeted. Machiko smiled, trying to hide her pinkish cheek.
“So, how’s study?”
“I’m doing well,” Machiko shyly answered. “There’s an improvement,” she was still facing the floor since she could not get rid of the pink colour painted on her chubby cheek.
“That’s good. Keep it up!” Yuya inspired her more.
“Thank you. You too,” she tried to carve a smile and face him.
Yuya returned the warm smile and nodded. “Jaa~ See you later,” he waved and left.
Realizing that she still felt awkward talking to him; he sure it was the best to stop it quickly.
“At least I can talk to her. Next time, I can try again! Kyaa~” he muttered alone as he was slightly running to the café.
A/N: The rainbow story motivated me when I got bad grade for English. Suddenly I remember those phrases and made me smiled again :D
