Heiwa 2

Yaotome looked around. Nakajima was spinning his pen while Yamada was crumbling a piece of paper; perhaps he made a mistake with his writing. Chinen came with a sleepy face, lying down his head on the table. Directly opposite them was Inoo playing with his nail. Not far from him, Takaki was stupidly stroking his hair. Morimoto leaned lazily in his chair. At the other end, Arioka yawned helplessly while Okamoto was rubbing his eyes that started to turn red. Yaotome let out a sigh, sort of regretting the flattering mood.

“Hey guys!” He broke the silence. “What are with all those dreary looks?”

“Nothing, perhaps we’re just tired,” Takaki answered on behalf of others who still had not giving any attention.

“Don’t tell me you are grieving for Yabu-kun’s absence,” Yaotome chuckled, trying to overcome the tense atmosphere.

“Sort of,” It was Inoo. Yaotome stared at him for a minute before another sigh escaped from his throat.

“Nevertheless, life must go on. Eh, why I speak like there’s had been a death?” Again, Yaotome chuckled only for no response. His eyes scanned through the members again, still with no positive progress. He ignored the fact that he was talking alone.

“Anyway, today’s meeting is purposely held to discuss of our next movement. You all know right, that as long as Yabu haven’t recover, we’re going on hiatus?” Yaotome looked on the face on after another. He got some nods. That was a good start!

“I’ve talked to Johnny-san and he had agreed to allow us do charity works. Well, not the usual charity works. According to my original plan, I would be glad if each of us could choose a country and go there to spread the word of peace. As for expenses, no need to worry since we are fully sponsored. But don’t take advantage!” There’s warn there.

“Anyway, my plan is great, isn’t it?” Again, he was talking to himself.

Since his effort seemed to not working, he tried another method by asking each of the members. However, before he could open his mouth, Inoo spoke up.

“I’m going with you, to wherever you go,”

“Eh? Nande?” Yaotome asked curiously.

“No reason,” Inoo grinned. “You said that yourself, right, that your idea was great? So, your decision seems to be the best.”

Yaotome did not know whether it was just his feeling or Inoo was being sarcastic in his words.

“How about you, Ryutaro?”

“I decline,” Only a short answer from him.

“Eh?” Yaotome eyes rounded.

“Isn’t it obvious that this has nothing to do with me? What is about peace and that crap idea of travelling? I can just stay in that marvelous triple-storey home without the need to sweat out doing charity works. Just tell me how much you need to help those people!” Morimoto stood up and walked boastfully out.

Realizing the change on Yaotome’s look, Takaki calmed him down, “Just let him be. He’s still an immature puberty-kid.”

Yaotome sighed for the countless time.

“Okay, Yuto?”

Nakajima did not dare to face the fierce-looking Yaotome, perhaps only he thought so. “I’m participating,” he answered word by word.

“Well then,” Yaotome carved a smile. “Where are you planning to go?”

“Australia. I want to see the kangaroo!” he excitedly answered as he realized that Yaotome did not angry anymore.

Duh! What a brat!

“Yuto, do you understand what I mean just now?”

“Well, kangaroo need to be protected too, right? In fact, there are in danger too as people keep hunting on them. We have to make their life to be in peace -”

“Whatever, Yuto,” Yaotome cut him before the ‘speech’ got longer.

“Hikaru-kun,” Chinen suddenly raised his hand. “Can I go to Korea?”

“Korea?” Yaotome observed his face fully. “Why are you interested with it?” He somehow found the idea interesting since Korea was not a poor country. In fact, it was Japan’s biggest rival!

“Ohno-san is going there for Arashi concert,” Chinen simply said.

Duh! Another spoiled brat! Yaotome seriously felt like banging his head to the wall.

“Well, how about the other?”

“I’ll stay here,” both Arioka and Okamoto replied together. The two, whose seats were next to each other, exchanged look as the answer was never once planned. Truthfully, both guys were too lazy to carry out the project as it would be harder than any performance they ever had.

“Yama-chan, how about you? You’ve been quiet throughout the meeting. That’s so not like you, the hyper-energetic boy.”

“I can’t decide yet,” he replied with both eyes still fixed on the paper. He continued his scribbling. Perhaps, he’s writing a fanfic, Chinen thought, looking from his periphery view.

“Bakaki-chan?” Yaotome teased the older boy who seemed to be hallucinating.

“Oi, Takaki da yo!” Takaki confronted a bit, slapping slightly the table in front of him, pretended to be angry. However, just second later, he grinned. “Well, I haven’t decided yet too.”

Yaotome looked around, on each pair of eyes that stared at him, waiting for further command. Silence floated in for a while.

“Okay, I’ve noted everything,” Yaotome finally spoke. “Now, meeting dismiss,”

Everyone quickly left their seat, approaching for the door. Yaotome just watched them from his seat. Ne, Yabu, how do you manage to handle this bunch of brat successfully? Teach me please, Yabu! I’m lost here! He tried to communicate through telepathy with Yabu although he pretty much sure that the latter wouldn’t receive his message. He buried his face on the table, trying to figure up of what’s going to happen next.

“Bye, we’ll meet again tomorrow,” Pearl waved to the children at the church where she worked as part time nun.

“Bye, bye, bye,” the small kids waved back at her, smiles were obvious on their lips.

Pearl carved a lovely smile to them. She was happy seeing them happy. They were so small to understand what had happened, too innocent to know the reason of them being abandoned there. Pearl’s eyes suddenly felt warm. It would become teary in any time. Not wanting to ruin the small kids’ happiness, she quickly left before the ‘pearl’ of her eyes dropped onto the ground.

Her strides became longer and longer. In her mind, she only thought of living as soon as possible. She had promised to herself not to cry in public. Everything she felt, happy or sad, excited or disappointed should be unknown to anybody except her beloved diary. She would spill her heart and feelings there - to Mr. Deary Diary.

The truth, she was an unlucky child too. She was unwanted by her mother since she was born without a legal father. Later, she was abandoned there - at the church that she had just left, or more exact, at where she devoted herself for God’s work without asking for any reward.

She grew up just like another kid, with joy and pride, with nothing to worry until it was time for her to enter school. Discovering that she had never possessed a proper document of identity, her heart was torn to pieces. Starting from there, she turned to be a gloomy kid who was said to never have any bright future. She kept on blaming everything, especially her mother who gave birth to her as 'trash' kid.

However, God was not cruel. A sister at her orphanage took very good care of her. She never tired of advising her to always look something from the right perspective, be positive in thinking. Even non-stop flowing water could melt the hard cave stone, thus proving that human’s soft and sensitive heart would never be impossible to be attracted by words. Little by little, Pearl changed. She was determined to start a new life and forgot all the sorrow and dark past of her history. She decided to follow the step of the sister.

“We’re given life to none other than serving God and spreading His words.”

“Hey, Yamachan!” Chinen patted him as they exited the meeting room. “Are you writing fanfic? About who? You with Shida or me and Umika?” he asked eagerly.

Yamada turned, “I’m not writing one,” he stated coldly.

“Then…. That?” Chinen pointed to the crumpled paper in the chubbier boy’s right palm. He’s still in the excited mood.

“Nothing,” Yamada threw the sketched paper into the nearest basket.

“Accompany me to the konbini, will you?” Chinen asked seductively, aided by a puppy wink.

Yamada grunted, “You sure know how to win over me,” he looked at Chinen lazily while the latter just giggled childishly.
