Beignets
I had beignets for the first time at the Cafe du Monde in New Orleans years ago. When we came back to nowhere Idaho -- where nobody had even heard of the things -- my mom regularly made them for us from a Louisiana tourist cookbook we'd gotten during our visit. They were good but pretty much nothing like the ones I'd had in the French Quarter,
