Please refrain from all the main character death in your movies and anime...you are traumatising me.
There I was thinking I could watch Interstella 5555 to see how the Daft Punk story ended without being heartbroken as I am with all other Japanese movies and kids series. It's basically a long musicvideo so what could go wrong right?
Not
Once again they set you up for a lovely happy end where the hero who is hot and young gets the girl he always dreamed of after rescuing her from en evil lord only to have him die about a minute after they meet face to face. He dies while holding her hand for the first time and he had just shared his memories with his (innocent) fantasies about them together.
His spirit still saves them later and they make a statue of him...that only emphasises how hot and young he was when he died.
You have been doing this to me since I was a very young kid (they started airing CandyCandy here when I was three) and they killed off Candy Candy's prince charming by making him fall of a horse. It's burned in my memory.
Yet I can't seem to refrain from watching pretty Japanese things. I'm doomed.

PS: I'd be okay with drummerdeath, secondary characterdeath is a good compromise, have you seen Spinal Tap? No one would mind.
PS2: Was the hero latently gay and therefor couldn't end up with the girl? He did have one hell of a phallic spaceship he was enjoying polishing at the start of the adventure...
