Mission Completed

I just made 20E of that engraving job of the huge champagne bottle. Luckily I found some sneaky ways to make it easier to get a more exact copy of the birth card onto the glass.

It didn't turn out extraordinary but the birth card was wonky in the first place. I don't know if they just didn't want to make too much of an effort but it looked like something standard they found OL, filled in the right names and printed at home. This job won't make me famous. *smirk*

I got some more more information about the whole thing now. The company that normally offers these bottles wants to keep offering them. I thought it was a liquor store but it doesn't sound so much like that now. The bottle I just did was a test to see if they want to hire the jewelry store for these jobs from now on. One of the things I wonder about is how much profit they make from the work I do, they must make something because why else would they want this contract?

It's interesting work and I make enough money to make it worth my while anyway so I don't mind if they do. If they like this and I get more assignments there must be prettier things to work with. many birth cards have cute bears or things on them that would be fun to do. But I am aware the quality of my work when I cannot just trace is not up to a craftsman's standard so I'd say it's 50/50 if I will be allowed to do more.

I really should just spend a lot of time developing my skills but I'm laaaaaaazy. Watching Miami Ink (tattoo show) does inspire me though, I want to do some of the pretty dragons, koi fish and Japanese mixed decorating styles that involve flowers. That is the exiting stuff that gives a good striking result. Most of what I do now are names and if you get that a teensy bit wrong it looks makeshift.

Decorative things are what I have been doing in school and in the boring classes for ages. When I make a gift for family I also do decorative freestyle or adjustments from normal images of fairies or something. I'd like to be able to show the store I am not just able to do mediocre lettering.
