Disappointment [Screened to Friends List (which really isn't any different than usual)]

May 14, 2010 12:40

Words cannot express my disappointment. I have always taken pride in my work at iFly Airlines and have regarded them with utmost respect. However, I cannot help but feel betrayed for what they've done.

For those who don't know, iFly Airlines approached me with a wonderful opportunity to design their new line of jumbo jets, thanks to the overnight ( Read more... )

Man, talk about a rotten thing for your bosses to do. I think a pinkish red plane would be cool! I mean, like, the only thing I'd say looks a little off is the hearts, but all they had to do was ditch them and keep the other stuff, or change the hearts' color. The flowers are a nice touch though!

Hey, I know! Maybe you could, like, start working on designs for smaller things, like...handbags? A lot of girls I used to know appreciated bright color schemes in those. But try not to let your jerky bosses get you down. Even if you don't become the greatest designer ever, I don't think anyone could beat you in terms of how, like, professional you are.

Hearts? I'm sorry, but there aren't any hearts in my design. Perhaps you mean the Aureolin yellow leaves of the flowers? I apologize for the low-quality picture. It's all I had at the time.

That's never occurred to me before. Thank you for the idea but I'm afraid my passion lies in designing things on a larger scale. I appreciate your words of encouragement, though.

Oh the yellow's fine, I meant the little green things (unless it's a really greenish shade of yellow?). Those really aren't hearts? Well I guess this computer I'm using might not have the best resolution. My bad!

No problem-o. Did you make your design on a computer, or by hand? If you get a better program it might show up better.

Oh, you mean the green polka dots! I suppose they do appear heart-shaped at a bad resolution.

I do all of my designing on the computer. I would be happy to show you a more detailed, higher-resolution version of my plane design, if you like.

How dastardly of them to disrespect your artistic vision! Your pink plane against the dull skies of blue would have been a delightful sight. Why go ordinary when you can be extraordinary? Shame on them.

Oh I'm so happy that you understand, Mr. Gramarye!

But I'm afraid our lucky shade of yellow was not so lucky for me this time.

I'm sorry to hear about your disappointment, Ms. Teneiro. I wish that hadn't happened. It's never pleasant to see your own vision twisted in someone else's hands.

But I find that the bitterest taste often precedes some sweetness, like a slice of cake after a cup of black coffee. Would we enjoy the sweetness as much if it didn't follow the bitterness? I can't say for sure, but I know that the sunlight after a storm seems brighter to me somehow.

I suppose there is much truth to that...and I suppose the saying "You can't have your cake and eat it too," applies to this situation.

You never know, someday, when times are sweeter, you might laugh about this setback.

I hope you do.

Oh yes, those designs are certainly very different! Please don't doubt yourself. Perhaps they had economic concerns that had nothing to do with aesthetics? As an ambassador, I frequently have to make such compromises.

I hesitate to ask, as I know you're extremely busy with your career, but I and my staff have been working on a Cohdopian Embassy online store, and if another design job would cheer you up, I'd be happy to offer you one. I promise I wouldn't interfere with your vision!

It's for nothing as impressive as a jumbo jet, I'm afraid. More like t-shirts and wall clocks and keepsake boxes.

I never thought of it that way. Perhaps you're right, Ambassador. The airlines has taken quite a hit from the bad economy after all.

How very kind of you! I may just take you up on that offer. If my design cannot be appreciated in the form of a jumbo jet just yet, perhaps I should return to basics for the time being.

Oh yes, I keep a close eye on the economy, as it does affect international policies. I sometimes take government decisions to heart, too, so I can can understand your feelings, but often, I find, such things aren't personal at all.

And that's excellent news! It's an ongoing project, so whenever you have the time, I would be delighted to hear and see your ideas.

Fraulein Quadrat, I'm still a little woozy from being ill, but I can say this much: one man's eyesore is another man's art, ja? My art form, too, doesn't suit everybody's tastes.

I'm sorry to hear you're ill, Mr. Gavin. Please get well soon.

Yes, I suppose to each their own...but I had expected iFly Airlines to choose a design that at least remotely represented mine.
