...okay so I stole the subject line from my brother and am probably only amusing myself.
You really can't go wrong with Willis, Mirren and Malkovich, plus this one's got Storm Shadow in it. Byung-hun Lee. He gets naked at one point, it's awesome. Though he also looks good in a suit. While beating up on Bruce Willis. Plus he kills a guy with origami. Also, Helen Mirrin with big weapons is pretty damn sexy. And when you put Helen Mirrin with her guns in a really sweet, low-slung electric blue Lotus driven by Storm Shadow? Damn. I was glad when Frank got him on their side. And Victoria/Ivan is my OTP forever. <3
This movie is just built out of massive piles of eye candy and Hilarity Ensues. And it cracks me up how Marvin is always giving Frank pretty good relationship advice. He just doesn't seem the type.
Anthony Hopkins was great, too. Cause his character's crazy, at first glance at least, but you just know that he's not as crazy as he's acting, and he just plays everyone right up until the end.
...I'm pretty sure there's now a nuclear fallout zone just off the coast of England, though. Not quite sure how the bomb worked. It was like Dark Knight Rises: as long as the nuclear bomb is in the air when it goes off, everyone's okay! Idk, maybe red mercury can create a blast on the level of an atomic bomb without the fallout. Either way, it looked cool. Except for how it also took Storm Shadow's plane with it. He wasn't too happy about that, especially since for most of the movie he didn't seem to care that he was getting paid to kill Bruce Willis, just that Bruce Willis stole his plane (oh and also sold him out that one time and wrecked his reputation and got him arrested. but mostly the plane.).
I wish they'd done more to address the fact that Sarah had killed somebody for the very first time. I mean, I get that the film was moving pretty fast at that point and they had to keep Hannibal from blowing up London, but they really just kinda skipped over that and then she's practically begging Frank to go on another job and in the stinger she's gleefully firing at the ceiling. But while she manged to pull herself together pretty quickly (they were in the middle of the Iranian embassy in London and were on a pretty tight schedule), she freaked out for a minute when she shot the guy.
Otherwise though it was really great. I loved the first one, and I thought this one was at least as good. I hope they keep making these movies, cause they're awesome. :D
And then when we left the theater I stopped at the claw machine and got a Despicable Me minion plush. It's Dave. Haven't seen the new one yet, but I loved the first. Even if it's predictable. And I can probably guess what happens in the second. It's just SO FLUFFY.
