How Supernatural Got Its Groove Back
So, I just now got caught up with the last two episodes of Supernatural (episodes 5x07 and 5x08), and, I have to say, I really enjoyed them a lot (especially 5x08, which I think just became my favorite episode of season 5 and one of my favorites in the overall series).

I don't like this show when the brothers are lonely and dour and the plotlines are melodramatic, inconsistent, and contrived, which is why I hated season 4 so much. Season 5 seems to be fixing those mistakes; in particular, I think episode 5x08 did the same masterful job of using morbid, absurdist humor to support the overall dramatic story arc and reemphasize the brothers' closeness that Mystery Spot did, and I'm extremely glad and impressed that they brought the Trickster back and fleshed out his character and made him tie into the show's larger mythology.
This season is making me feel like I can finally enjoy this show again, and I really like that feeling. ^___^ <3333
