Ladies and gentlemen, I've adopted a plant! Too bad he lives in a styrofoam cup and is dying because I overwatered him. I just care too much! (His name is Burt, btw, and I know that plants are asexual, THANK YOU FOR POINTING THAT OUT, EVERYONE I KNOW. I also call him "the friendly cactus," although he is in fact an aloe plant.) Anyway, I have ( Read more... )

Aw, that's SO awesome to hear/read. NewGuy sounds really great. If nothing else, I hope y'all get to hang out some more.

Also, plants are asexual? I'm sure I knew that for bio at one point but definitely didn't know that when reading your post. If I had a plant, I would totally give it a gender and a name.

Plants are asexual. But it's more fun to have a plant with a personality and, you know, a gender.

Actually, plants have more than one gender.

I named a plant of mine "Dr. Worm". A long time before I thought about med school, actually. I believe, if I remember right, the name came from a They Might Be Giants song. So name your plant Burt and call it a cactus all you want. Because you're giving your plant something to aspire to and every plant needs that! But as a word of advice, when you go home and carefully take it with you because you fear it will perish without your love water--don't, in any case, leave your plant out in subartic weather, where it freezes and dies anyway. It will make you very sad. Very, very sad.

And yay for the New Guy!! He sounds cute and just the thing to push Ross out of your mind once and for all. And a lot can happen in five weeks...

My plant is dying and it is making me very, very sad. He seems depressed. I feel like a bad mother. I feel that you can probably sympathize.

He seems very nice. We'll just see.

That new guy sounds nice. :)

It sounds like you are finally coming to terms with all the Ross stuff. So um, yay?

I think I like him, but I don't know him well enough to judge yet. I think I'm getting through the Ross stuff, but it's just going to take time.
