you know if you openly call the bible mythology in a college class you can find out who the christians in class are?

the death glare gives away your religious stance...
and if somehow i've really stepped over the line at that point, i can already tell you what the bible says to do...

forgive me.

yeah english was a little interesting last night :

And this is why we're friends. Last semester's English class for me was online, so I didn't have to worry about that sort of shit. Did you ever notice how atheist's are supposed to be tolerant of others' religious beliefs, but there are very few theist's who give the same respect back?

Ah! A group that will tolerate negative opinion on any religion but their own! BTW, before he came down to MD several years ago, my synagogue's first Rabbi almost got his ass kicked by a group of other Jews for a related lecture where he elaborated and said that the mythology was intended for people to draw wisdom.

this comment actually goes to both comments but... not suprised, whenever you brush on someones religion, it tends to rub them the wrong way, mostly due to the way religion is ingrained in others, a belief that there may or may not be a god, or that your holy text is written by man instantly sets people off because the divinity of religion alone keeps people "warm and safe" at night...

so really going into any religion talk im a slight hand up cause i dont have that particular baggage weighing me down, but on the downside i also dont have that comfort to pull me through some stuff that would be reasonably horrible otherwise... its a give and take, but the prime intrest in religion goes to why it was implimented in the first place and thats so we can feel guided and protected by something larger than ourselves.
