my art class makes me want to fucking scream, the people i have class with are morons without any design skill whatsoever, and then it comes to the projects myself and i find myself quadruple guessing what im doing because of the first time i went through a 2d design course, lets face it the teacher at that point did so much damage im still dealing

What level class is it? I would keep in mind that you have probably been working on art all the years you were outside of school, which means you would be leaps and bounds ahead of your classmates, naturally. This is just my hypothesis. Challenge yourself. Don't let your frustration with others hold you back.

oh im trying to challenge myself, but i also believe on the shit in shit out theory, and no matter what i do here, its gonna probly look like crap comming out, as an artist and illustrator its my job to be able to draw whatever, as a designer its your job to make anything look appealing if need be, and i can be both (altho i really really hate graphic design) the issue here is that doing a piece based around food, and now its getting added in that we cant do simple food ideas (a is for apple, b is for banana) i think this is just looking nasty all around, i mean really how do you wind up doing z is for ziti when your color pallete is suddenly all blue hues. i really just think this idea is so fucking limiting and its hard enough to get these people to break their shells to begin with, i mean yes, i want pop culture cause it should look wonderful or interesting from an illustration standpoint (who wouldnt leap at a chance to do "s is for say anything" and illustrate a mini pic of john cusack with that boombox above his head.....) and

That project DOES sound like crap now that you've explained it further. Do your best.
And I hate graphic design, too. I just have no passion for it. Whatsoever. And once someone hears you consider yourself an artist or like to create, they always say, "You should be a graphic designer!"
Are you majoring in illustration? If so, I'm jealous.

dont have a major yet, i am an illustrator first no matter what my degree is tho, its really that simple to me at least... like, i draw, and i draw mainly to tell stories usually rendered in black and white, theres not really a btter term for it than illustrator
