When dealing with a wild creature, one cannot simply capture and force the creature into a certain lifestyle. By doing such a thing, one either kills the creature's spirit or creates an ugly vicious beast no longer trusting of man. In order to keep the wild creature's spirit intact and have it stick around willingly one must make it desire so.

Although, if this wild creature just happens to care enough about it's captor, it will compromise and develop a lifestyle fitting for both.

The captor has to get the creature to care first.

and fully expect that the wild thing will eventually harm you--because it is a wild thing; instinct will win out (at a moment of panic) over affection.
