exciting news from judge!
went to the farmers' market today and got:
-beets (with their greens)
-portabello mushrooms
-apple cider
-strawberries
-rhubarb
-a leek
tonight for dinner i'm making:
-tofu
-spinach, beet greens, and garlic
-other yummy things, which i have not yet decided on
-beets! i love beets!
does anybody have a good recipe for strawberry rhubarb pie? red pepper hummus?
harvey sinead, our volvo, had a hissy fit at rachel's school today so my mom and i had to go pick them up and the car kept stalling and putting out black smoke while i tried to drive it back to the auto fixer place. they're looking at it now.
if i ever teach english, i'd like to include NWA "express yourself" in my curriculum. how many times do you find "known to get funky with a subject and a predicate" in a hip-hop song? yeah. also, a few weeks ago i quoted "movin like a tortoise full of rigor mortoise" as jurassic 5, but it's actually nwa. so great.
sara's leaving for india in a few days, so i'll be back in ny by my lonesome. pachie and her friends are all going away, too. a couple of weeks ago i was hanging out with her and a friend who's like 14 or 15 and they were talking about the prom. pachie said that this girl there looked so old, and he said "wait, like 20 old or like 90 old?" 20 old?? I'm 20 old!
I'm really excited for camp, though - i'm working this summer at the nature place day camp, where i went as a camper for 6 years. during my "interview" the administrator was looking over my resume and saw that i worked at farm and wilderness. "oh, that's the naked camp, right?" love. nature place is basically the day -and clothed- version of f&w. it's awesome, and i'm psyched to have some friends.
okay, i think my mom's going to flip if i don't go cook dinner now, so to avoid a cataclysmic explosion, i'll sign off.
