Theory on why people write blogs

I've spent some time thinking about blogs and why people write them. So far the only explanation I can find is that these people have found enlightenment (or as Maslov said, Self-actualization).
After all of their biological, physiological, safety, love and esteem needs are met, and they have absolutely nothing to do at work...
