most people reading this are already well aware of the fact that i am from the pioneer valley in western massachusetts. with the exception of one year i spent in northern california, and a year or so just over the border in connecticut, the valley has always been my home (and for part of the time i lived in connecticut, i was at mount holyoke, so

I just wrote a whole comment and it doesn't look like it posted so if it did sorry to be posting twice.
Being here was really and I can't imagine not being here when it happened. Josh was driving home on 91 and saw the tornado hit. I was so worried because I knew he was around there but couldnt get ahold of him. We are safe. Springfield is closed down tomorrow so the state police and national guard can start to clean up. Right now they are focused on search and rescue.
And yeah I understand the grumpiness about people on Facebook and what not. I got pretty mad at one person's post about it's just a little rain so why is everyone making a big deal out of it.
Well try not worry and have fun. I will keep you posted if anything new comes up. ::hugs::

i'm prety sure i know exactly who you're talking about! we may or may not have started drama on the internet, but kim & i were just both really, really offended and hurt by it, and she's since taken the statuses down. i have screencaps of the first one, though, just in case. heh.

She and I watched the tornado go by from our front porch. It was about one mile away. I've seen two tornados in my life. This one was far larger and closer than the first one, and I'm not in a hurry to repeat the experience. I cannot seem to tear myself away from all of the coverage. I keep going around the intertubes, looking for new photos and videos, or talking to people about what they saw, or have seen since.
Our city is broken, and some parts of it will never be fixed...

anyway. you're right, though. in retrospect, aside from the worry and panic, at least i was safe here, and at least we have the interwebs to let us know what was going on. i'm pretty sure that i wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere near the things, given that much of the action was right around the areas where i work and live. ugh.
