That part never really made sense to me in the movie. . .now I get it.

The part in Return of the Jedi? Yeah... it made sense in the original movie because you could think, "Oh Leia knew their mother" but since no one cross referenced when they made Revenge of the Sith and it's discovered Padme dies .00001 seconds after child birth, Leia's memory doesn't make any sense at all!

Instead of super fantastic Jedi powers, Leia's memory evidently started in utero - well, that or the script editors were out for some serious donuts when it came to RotS. Mmmmm, donuts..
