He checked his watch.
8:32 a.m.
Arthur shook his head. He went to his favorite chair in his office, and took a seat, thinking. The Haitian had resurfaced following the disappearance of his brother. He was with Angela currently, and they were planning their next move. Now that they had him back, Angela had the upper hand. Naturally proving herself to be even more of a problem faster than he'd anticipated.
They were unaware of Pinehearst's latest developments, to the best of his knowledge anyway. Given that, it meant their next move would be against him personally. And it was only safe to assume that the next move would come soon.
Arthur checked his watch again.
8:33 a.m.
Security would have to double down. Triple down, if it came to that. Suresh was working as fast and as hard as possible. Above all else, everything was kept moving as if nothing at all was wrong. If only a little faster.
Picking up the sketchbook he'd kept on his desk, Arthur flipped through the pages. The latest sketches hadn't revealed much he hadn't been able to figure out on his own. It seemed Isaac Mendez's power only had so many uses in the long run. Jumping into the future himself was a lot more productive.
So far, anyway.
The rush caught him off guard, and Arthur barely had time to flip to a fresh page and grab a pencil. Images flashed through his head as his hand barely touched paper, the new image flowing through him and into the pencil, until his vision finally cleared and he'd been returned to the present.
Arthur paused. He checked his watch.
8:37 a.m.
He then looked down at the paper. He frowned at the rough sketch, confused. Not because of the subject, but because he wasn't sure of the location right off. And then he understood.
It was Pinehearst. Nathan headed directly into Pinehearst. His face was in profile, but Arthur knew that look. Determination. The kind of look his son only got when a decision had been reached. Arthur knew it well. The smirk that slipped across his face might have contained a hint of pride.
It appeared Nathan was finally coming home.
