Philadelphia discoveries

human_ephemera told me the absolute best thing about Philadelphia while hanging out this weekend.

Apparently there's a homeless dude near the art museum with a battery operated radio. Slip him a few dollars and he'll follow you up the stairs while playing the theme to Rocky.

Yes. I will be determining the validity of this claim soonish.

And here I've been deciding whether to come out there in October despite my finances dictating that I shouldn't...

I CAN VERIFY THIS CLAIM!

He kinda smells bad though. And then doesn't leave you alone afterwards. But, by God, it's so worth it- standing on Sylvester Stallone's tiny brass footprints and pumping your fist to the music.

That dude must pull down 6 figures a year and be the healthiest bum EVER.

'cuz if I lived there, whenever I felt low- that's exactly where I'd go.

When Sanchez first took me there thank god it was night time: no one had to see my fat ass weedeling up those stairs and sweating.

Speaking of sweating, I had a good time Sunday. Hope you did as well. Hey! This weekend I have a free in at the Philadelphia Tattoo Convention, wanna go?

I haven't heard this story, but it doesn't surprise me.

Don't forget that if it is raining, go to the corner of 17th and Arch and look at the statue of Billy Penn on top of City Hall. I looks like he is taking a whiz on the city. Yes, it is immature, but if I am in the city and it is raining and I am remotely close I go to that corner everytime and crack up.

hahahahahahhahahahaha I have to see this.

Back in Richmond we had Monument Avenue...basically a bunch of old white dudes on horses. Except for the very end of the road they put up an Arthur Ashe statue. Except it's horrible. If you stand directly in front of it, it looks like he's beating the kids with a tennis racket and they're all crying out in agony.

Oh, and the Jefferson statue at night, from the right angle, looks like he's holding a lightsaber.
