I think it says something about my major (and especially my major at Reed) that I can recognize the word for prostitute in Greek, as well as a number of words for blood and slaughter (includinging parthenosphagos, which means "blood of a slaughtered maiden"-- thanks Aeschylus!), without even thinking about it but I have to look up much more mundane

Well, the word for 'blood of a slaughtered maiden' is probably especially distinctive.
