I'm a sucker for soundtracks, and on that front I recommend both Ennio Morricone and Bear McCreary, both of which are also good to study to.

As music goes, right now I'm listening to a lot of Flogging Molly (surprise). Other recommendations include the obvious classic rock (Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Stones), some slightly less obvious classic rock (Boston, Joe Cocker), the popular stuff that is also good (Foo Fighters, Muse, Gorillaz), the less popular stuff that is also good (Cowboy Mouth, Say Anything). I'm always happy to play stuff for you so you can see if you like it.

WHITNEY. It's Maggie. How have we not become LJ buddies yet? Clearly this must be remedied.

DUDE! I am glad that you remedied this. It was clearly Not Right. Now the world can return to harmony, equilibrium, and LJ happiness.

Also:

I actually *do* have a favorite 18th century composer, and it is Mr. Johann Sebastian Bach. Especially the Cello Suites. I seriously never get sick of listening to them, and I swear it's not just because I'm a cellist...

Songs I have recently enjoyed rocking out to: Swamp by Talking Heads, Business Time by Flight of the Conchords, Breaking The Law by Judas Priest, Cracked Actor by David Bowie, and, eternally, If You Want Blood (You Got It) by AC/DC. Also "I'll Make A Man Out Of You" from the Mulan soundtrack. Totally pumps you up. Tranquil as a forest, Whitney, but on fire within.

Horrible pop band I like even though I shouldn't: Ace of Base. There are times when "All That She Wants" is the only thing that will do it for me.

Other stuff you should listen to: Shooglenifty (cool celtic fusiony stuff), Oysterband (Welsh folky-rocky band), Garmarna (awesome Swedish folky-rocky-fusiony awesomeness), Kan'Nal (they call themselves "tribal rock", which is silly, but it's good music).
