Your body is probably one step away from a major tear/soreness which will probably prevent you from doing the race. The timing like this is always tragic, but it's better than traction.
Yeah. RICE is my friend right now. I'm not running until I'm feeling better. I'm guessing I should go to a podiatrist, tho, to figure out wtf is going on.
So sad for your injury! I can tell you a new pair of shoes and foot/ankle/knee/hip adjustments at the chiro got me through the 10K last year. Funny that since I stopped running, I haven't needed my knees/ankles/feet adjusted since though...my hip is still trouble though and it subluxed at the 8K mark during my 10K. That was awesome pain I cacn tell you but i had to finish the race! The stupid things we do for exercise, eh? ...not the news you wanted to hear right?
I went and got SuperFeet inserts last night for my current shoes (which only have 120 miles on). I wore my old sneakers with SuperFeet in them yesterday and today my arch is 90% better. I'm going to try and run tonight. See how my foot takes it.
I made an appointment for next Thursday with a podiatrist. See what he says. I think I just have seriously bad feet.
