Now I see why Siamese cats have a rep as being intelligent. Our recently adopted female Siamese cat (Mystery or Myst for short) surprised me tonight. (This is not the first time

I agree about Dr. Deeb. She's a great vet and rather close to where we live. She's very good with ferrets as well.
cindygerb was able to train Droolpuss in an afternoon. She had a towel on her lap but was otherwise naked. When he was on the towel, he got petted. When he ventured onto skin, she stopped. This was learned that afternoon. Now he sits and stares, telling you to put a towel on your lap.

OK, here is something that is making me sorry we adopted the cat: Myst has a habit of wandering in and out of the bedroom while we sleep, and every time she jumps on the bed she loudly announces herself. (Actually, every time she jumps on a human, she ear-splittingly announces herself.) This is destroying my sleep, which is why I'm at my computer after 2 hours of sleep instead of in bed trying to get some real rest, 'cuz at this point I'm totally f***ed up. However, if we lock her outside, she will sit outside the door wailing in that horrible, ear-splitting, throaty way for literally hours, which also destroys sleep.
Is it possible to train a cat not to vocalize? Any suggestions?

I imagine that it would be but I'm not sure how you would do so. Our method required us to be active participants. That, of course won't work here. Our cats seem to become more vocal over time, so I don't know what to tell you. Maybe Cindy will have some ideas...
