So, I had my "beginning-of-the-week" in Paris, and I have still to come to terms with the concept.
Where the heck have the days from Wednesday to Saturday gone? O_O
I just remember a flurry of activity; typing and bickering with people, taking measurements and bickering with people, driving and bickering with people (at the phone in that case;) and ( Read more... )

LOL! You were there too! Cold and crowded, wasn't it? As well as expensive and hard on the feet. But it's such a wonderful place!

Already back? Did you Apparate to and from there?!?
I went there last week, actually. It was not cold at all (at least for someone living in continental climates,) just rainy until Monday night. I could not believe there were still blooming pelargoniums at the windows. I know it's because of global warming, but still!

Where did you stay BTW? Due to working requirements, I was near Place d'Orléans, which is not very suggestive of the Paris ambience, yet it's well linked. I am deeply grateful for the métro, but it does not help much at the end of a day spent visiting (did you mention *feet*? ouch!)

Plane to Nice - if it weren't for all the hanging around at airports, it'd be almost as quick as Apparating.

Stayed near St Sulpice. Nice hotel. Mostly took taxis, as there were four of us and a push chair. Still pounded many miles of pavement, though.

Exactly my sentiment. If trains weren't so expensive I might give them a try ;)

I started my Monday walk at St. Sulpice!
Nice shops there around there, by the way. Not very expensive either (compared with the price of water, a Vuitton purse at 2.2 Keur is fair trade *grin*)

It sounds terribly hectic and wonderfully memorable.

It was, actually. The seminar went better than expected, and I could finally see, really see, Monet's Nimphéas. I could not begin to imagine what they are before I was there, and squinted eyes and kept shifting positions to try and catch the hidden colours and shapes. They might bear some resemblance to ghost-hunting, you know?

(Now let's see if I manage to post this - I have not been able to reload this page for 2 hours now...)

Nope, I'm afraid :(
I've never bothered to learn how to take pics, so I'm afraid you'll have to rely on Googlemaps Streeview. I might try to draw a map of my wanderings, but I don't know if I'll succeed.

Ah, well, I shall have to rely on the pictures in my head....
