Got a phone call from FERC today (the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) with a job offer! I start on the 5th.

I'm going through and deleting emails out of my "job search" inbox, and deactivating my job search engines. Damn this feels good.

Last day of canvassing. Definitely mixed feelings about it. In the last two months, I've been adopted into this odd family of people, with all different kinds of backgrounds, ages, and levels of education. I think I may have a job. I interviewed today with FERC (the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) today and they spent two hours selling this job to me. A salary that is twice what I'm currently living on, awesome benefits, benefits for my parents, a gym INSIDE the office building, 401k matching, pay increases, etc, etc. Um, I'm sold. Haven't updated for a little while. I've been keeping busy, which is sort of a mixed blessing. Between my temp job and my part-time job I worked 52  hours this week (47 if you include lunch breaks). And if you add in my hour-long commute each way... uhh. And my temp job is super lame. All I do is process applications for military child care ( Read more... )

So, I guess I haven't update much since I've moved here. I can't believe it's already been 4 weeks since I moved. Insane. Time flies when you're looking for a job and settling into your apartment. I can't remember the last time that so much has happened in one day.

Today I found out that I'm essentially hired through a temp agency, I just need to wait for them to find me work. So, job situation is not dire right now I think.

Leaving tomorrow to drive down to the new apartment in Virginia (metro-DC). I'm excited to start my next adventure, but it's never easy to say goodbyes. And it was definitely sad to conclude the previous adventure. I loved being a part of a community, living in a gorgeous place, and never being short of things to do. In general, the days have been rolling by and my time off goes by even faster. I have from 1:30 pm today until 1:30 pm tomorrow off, and the first 9 hours of my time off have flown by.
