Mom and Dad used to have one made from security bars, so when she found this section of fence, it was pretty much perfect. We still have a few sections left to do a little more with, but I love that it mixes my memories of Mom and Dad's, HotRod's love of metal work, and a little flair all into something functional.
Thank you! I'm so happy with how it's turning out - I didn't realise how oppressive the kitchen was with ALL THAT WOOD. It feels so BRIGHT and SUNNY. And it's even more rad that HotRod picked it out!
The doors and drawer fronts, yes. The cabinet bodies, no. The kitchen opens into the den, which is paneled in the same wood. I considered it but decided in the end that there was no good way top do it without it looking really oddly divided and awkward.
The teal is a bit dark, though, and we're trying to lighten the room up, which is why we are going with the cream. And hey, if there are stripes, that's pretty awesome. ^__^
