So that was Rena in that weapon! It really didn't look like her.
We find out that Aswald needs the nanomachines because of some sort of disease their people have. I didn't catch all of it, but this disease is why Reito and the others became cyborgs and Midori is stuck at 17. I desperately want to know who Arika's grandmother is. I'm guessing it's her paternal grandmother. Rena's parents should be someone in high-society, maybe even Windbloom's elite. The impression I got was that most otomes will be chosen by a master from their home country.
But back to Rena. The attack on the palace 14 years ago was by Schwartz and Aswald as part of a plan by some Windbloom official (I have no idea what his title meant) to assassinate the King and Queen. Rena died in the battle, but John Smith took the body. Rado actually apologized to Arika for allowing this to happen. Apparently, Aswald believed that those who sacrifice themselves for their cause, even enemies should have an honorable burial, but they couldn't prevent Smith from taking it. Smith is using Rena's body to try and create another being like the Shinso and a parallel set of otomes. Don't quote me on that, but I think I got it right. It makes sense. I think Fumi's gem was called 'mashiro' and Nagi and Co. are making black gems. But I'm confused. I thought the nanomachines were rendered useless by semen. Considering that Arika's nanomachines were thrown out of whack just because she had a crush on Sergei, actual intercourse should do a number on an otome's system. So how is Smith using Rena's body?
Tomoe is still around and obsessed. She bribed a guard to show her Shizuru's cell. This can't end well. Oh! Another nod to Mai-HiME. Natsuki tried to hitchhike again! Nao cut off Natsuki's pants to 'help' things along, and they ended up getting picked up by Airies' soldiers for indecent exposure. *sporfles*
I've been working on the Sephiroth/Cloud OST. Becky you're right. It's really hard to keep from putting hilarious tracks on the mix. Maybe in the bonus tracks? I desperately want to add Poe - Not a Virgin. I've been watching AC again, and Cloud is so pretty. Cloud's probably been molested by half of Midgar by now. I need to go over the game and scripts again. I need more songs, but preliminary selections include:
--A lot of Poe. I need to narrow these down, but they all work. WOE. "Control", "Haunted", "Terrible Thought", "Spanish Doll" Haunted, aside from being a very pretty song, is also such a perfect song for Cloud by himself: "And I'm haunted/by the lives that I have loved/And actions I have hated"
--Depeche Mode - "Damaged People", "I am You"
--Fiona Apple - "Criminal" (pronoun discrepancies, so probably won't make it)
--New Found Glory - "At least I'm known for something" (More of a Cloud song, but it fits)
--The Jesus and Mary Chain - "Nine Million Rainy Days"
--David Gray - "Falling Down the Mountain" (after Cloud kills Sephiroth?)
--The Verve - "Gravity Grave"
--Vienna Teng - "Gravity" ?
--Unkle - "What Are You to Me"
