One of my friends was visiting this weekend. I've missed her so much. We went to high school and college together, but she graduated last year and I went through withdrawal. It kills me when she calls me. Her actual name is Christina, but we were a weird bunch in high school and somehow she became 'Christ'. When she calls my phone it says ' ( Read more... )

Yuffentine? *whimpers* I can't even ask if you're serious, because I know you are. The name hybrids this fandom comes up with just pain me. I mean, worse than the stories, which is going some.

I only wish I was joking. This fandom has some of the most inane pairing names. I keep reading CloTi as 'clot' or 'Clotis' and neither are attractive images. What would would Sephiroth/Cloud be called? I have this urge to start calling them Shroud.

What ever happened to name/name? I feel like sitting on a porch and waving a shotgun at fanbrats. Granted, they were probably there before me, but I'll be an elitist snob and say intelligence trumps seniority. *grumpily settles on porch*

Yeah, those are a testament to why western-style names should never be syllable mushed, in the Japanese-style pairing notation. It just doesn't work.

Seph/Cloud usually gets done as S/C, which is marginally better.

*hauls out her rocking chair to sit with you* Intelligence wins any day.

I really can't decide what's worse, the name mashings (yet, why does stuff like TezuFuji or TezuAto or FujiRyo or TezuRyo not bother me?) or Yugioh's indecipherable pairing nicknames. ....not that we really have any room to throw stones there, either, I suppose.

I do get using shorthand for conversations, it would be a pain to type out name/name constantly (hence why I like SxC <3), but when you're writing fic? Take the extra three seconds. *grumpy*
