I hate it when I see some variation of "This is a dialogue piece. See if you can guess which character is saying what!" If your piece is well-written, it should be obvious. I also hate it when people do things like this:
Was all that really necessary? Why go through all that effort? I can't be the only one whose eyes automatically slide over something like that.
I just took a few hours off. I feel an impending case of burnout. I didn't even get a chance to rest on my day of no work! I woke up ridiculously early last Friday, and I didn't know what to do with myself, so I started doing work. And then my Japanese professor pulled me aside to ask me to sit in on a mock class for a prospective Japanese language professor, and it was a real compliment to be asked, so I didn't want to refuse. Then, another professor emailed me and asked to move our appointment to...you guessed it, Friday afternoon. So I just gave up and worked. It was kind of sad.
I wanted to watch the subs for Dirge of Cerberus, but I couldn't figure out how to load the subtitles. So I just finished catching up on a couple of things. Vaguely spoilery, rambly thoughts, GO!
I have to wait 83 days to watch the next Hellsing OVA? Why cruel world, WHY? Alucard's voice is perfect. I think it's the same VA from the anime. They seem to be going down a different track. I like how they show Seras taking on Alucard's traits. I can't remember the manga very well, but I don't remember Seras embracing her Vampireness so readily. I'm glad she's still a giant dork though. And the animation...SO good.
Am I the only one who thinks the new OP is one long Ryuu/Kyuu song? It's totally about Ryuu and Kyuu's gay tantei mind-melded love! *sparkles* And, oh god, episode 38!! Ryuu looked completely surprised to find himself between that knife and Kyuu. Like his body just moved without him even thinking about it. It makes me want to watch the show again. I want episode 39 now. Oh, my sparkly gay tantei OTP, I've missed you. So. Much.
I don't understand why people dislike Gakuen Heaven. Most of the complaints I've heard about it center on the characters. But, uh, if you have a problem with stereotypical bishounen characters...why are you watching a BL show based on a yaoi manga? It seems counterproductive. I think it's adorable and cute. If Keita were a whiny uke...well, that'd be a different story.
This was going to keep going and talk about Black Lagoon, Blood+, Princess Princess, and more, but my stomach is telling me that I didn't eat breakfast and it's now way past lunchtime.
P.S. This
Ouran video, set to Jump 5 - Aloha, E Komo Mai is more than a little hilarious. The lip-syncing! The lip-syncing at the end. *loves* This song is way catchier than it has any right to be.
