I'm actually in no danger. It's mostly the underground stuff that they're checking out. I believe they're being careful because a while ago a bridge collapsed killing several people and apparently cracks had been reported and nobody checked it out.
But yeah, a lot of structures seem to be giving out lately. It's not reassuring in the least.
I have an easy alternate route home - basically I can take the orange line (which is open for the moment) and then transfer onto the green line closer to home. If the orange line closes down, which it shouldn't as it isn't that close to the affected area, I can use a temporary shuttle.
I just heard that the street I work on has dropped about an inch, about half a mile down the road from me. That just seems unreal. But the city workers are being calm and cautious, so I'm not worried.
I'm not too worried, as I said above. I hope it's something that can easily be fixed, but at least no one was hurt and they noticed it fairly early on.
I just heard that it might be due to work that's being done on the road to expand the bicycle path.

Scary.
What happened in Minnesota, on top of Montreal's own bridge trouble, will have the powers that be checking every warning sign closely for the foreseeable future. And that's OK with me.
For what it's worth, many of my classmates at my reunion appeared to have sunken an inch, and they were all doing fine.
