I think baby trumps cards. Or something. Don't worry about it - I send them because I want my friends to know I'm thinking of them during the holiday season.

(And of course now it sounds like I think you're not thinking of yours - that's not what I meant! Hee.)

I am so glad he is going to be okay! I imagine you had to spend Christmas in the ER? That sucks.

Oh and you are totally the heroine!

Thanks! I can't tell you how frightened I was when I saw him lying there on the ground.

I have to admit, though, I never imagined that when I saved the day, I'd be wearing baggy flannel pyjamas and have dirty hair.

G, my dad did smash his head open when he fell off his roof. thespice December 28 2007, 20:15:24 UTC
And it sounds like your father is worse off. My dad left the hospital the next day with some stitches and no broken anything.

I am so, so sorry you had to go through this. I'll never forget how I felt when I stepped outside and found my father lying on the ground, realization dawning that he had fallen from a great height and could be dying. It was the most horrific thing I've ever experienced, and for weeks after, even though he was obviously fine, a shudder would attack my body if I thought about that first minute when I thought I was losing him forever. Finding a loved one like that is almost too much to bear.

I wish him a very speedy recovery. A broken femur...oooh. I am so, so glad you were there and that he is, all things considered, okay.

My love to you and yours. And sorry about your Very Scary Christmas.

Thank you!

You know, I really think it could have been worse. Yes, it's bad, but he'll recover, and I'd rather his body be affected than his mind, frankly.

Shoveling the steps is necessary. Shoveling the roof is just trying to be a martyr.

Three cheers for you, the heroine! surleigh December 28 2007, 23:06:58 UTC
Man. That's a rough experience for you, I hope your dad has a speedy recovery, those femur breaks are no joke.

And I made my mom get a huge snow blower last year because I was worried about her back.

Well, that's it for shoveling for him, I believe. My mom is being really cool about not being mad at him or anything, but she's put her foot down regarding snow removal.

I've heard dreadful things about femur breaks, too, but his doctors are being very positive and optimistic.
